~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Also try Enterprise, you can sometimes name your price with them and the sooner you book the better deal you get.

Chele:  Is that a first name or last name?  If first name, ok....but remember....we cannot put last names on N4Moms of SRs.  If it is a last name, just copy and past the comment, use initials and maybe hometowns, and delete the old comment.  Thanks!

Searching on here....means....on the computer!  :-)

Calimom:  Sure hope you get a letter or call soon to see how he is doing!

5boys:  Car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee if you haven't made your flight arrangements yet.  It is about 45 minutes from GL, no traffic.  Plane tickets many times are cheaper there too.  We found a deal at "Budget" when we were up there...long ago.  Someone else just posted in another group that they got a great deal with Enterprise.  I believe your form letter info mentions Ace.  You just have to check with all of them and see what works for you.  Renting off-property from the airports will save you some money....as long as the car rental can get you from/to the airport (Enterprise does this...they come get you, take you back).

So just keep searching on here!

Many thanks Diannep for the information. I know that when my SR called he did go to medical. Of course he was not getting better so they sent him back and after a few days the meds were finally working and they did give him SIQ, He also had his wisdom teeth removed. Todate I have not heard if has moved on and been able to catch up. I've received no letters and no call since last Wed. Hope all have a good day. Here's hoping all is going well with all the SR's

On a different, but related subject - Does anyone know the greatest trick to renting a car inexpensively?

Good Morning All!

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 8:18am

Calimom:  Well, go on the theory of no news is good news!  If your SR was delayed in any way, you would have been called with a new PIR date or with news that he has been moved to Medical.  Many are sick once they arrive at Bootcamp...maybe from temporary lowered immune systems as a result of all of the shots they get when first arriving, coupled with lots of germs with so many SRs!  The RDCs are used to this and give them some LD and SIQ time if they need it...they usually catch up in training.

So hoping that he is moving along fine!!
