Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Charlene i have joined a few groups just checking to see what's going on, I am a Navy wife of 18 yrs but this whole BC thing is new to me. I see you said no calls and it makes me nervous because my son was sick and not sure if he is on track for graduation. I have booked my hotel at the Navy Lodge and bought tickets. I have to say which is funny is that my first name is Charleyne just spelled differently. Can't wait to see if any updates

Hey Cali mom Ship 12/Div 157 - are you on the facebook page for our PIR?  Just wondering as I don't see too many people in the 157 division - so far 2 SRs that are female and now your son, & my son.

Div 157 did not get calls this weekend.  The last time I talked to my son he said he may not call again until the "I'm a Sailor" call - unless he somehow earns a call home.

Comment by diannep on March 26, 2013 at 1:09pm

LALS:  Calls are very random so it is possible that they won't call again for a couple of weeks or longer.  Just keep that phone handy...even in the bathroom and when checking the mail!  It just takes a second to miss that call and you can't call it back (if you do, your SR may be in trouble if their RDC answers the phone...so don't call it back!).
