OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Diannep: thank you so much for the great advice and input!!! I think we have decided in the Residence Inn! Sounds like a great deal and exactly what we need for accommodations. This is all so exciting!! Being here in the board is also helping to make it more of a journey to be cherished!!

Will be waiting for a phone call tomorrow! My SR said he would be able to call that day!

Still no letter from my SR 14/162.  I think I might just stop going to the mailbox for a couple days and then MAYBE the LETTER FAIRY will show up.....

Nursenavymom:  Residence Inn has 2 bdrm 2 bth suites.  A queen bed in each bedroom, a sofa sleeper.  Not sure if your group can sleep 2 x 2 x 2, but if so, this may work for you.  Be sure to ask for the Navy Grad discount (call the hotel directly) and check that rate.  Then, if you have AAA or any other discount available, check the rate with that and online too.  Some in the past have claimed it is cheaper online, but I would check all!  Residence Inn is located about 4-5 miles from the base, near Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, and Sarge's MeetandGreet.  They do have the PIR shuttle service.  Plus a hot buffet breakfast served earlier on PIR morning.  We enjoyed our stay there.  Oh, and they have full kitchens!  And a fireplace!  AND are pet friendly!  :-)

If you decide to squeeze in at Navy Lodge, yes, you can use Sarge's shuttle service.

Never apologize for asking any questions!  We don't mind at all answering them, even duplicate ones!

Does anyone have a good recommendation for lodging?? I want to finalize and book this weekend but can't decide. I'm leaning toward Navy Lodge. However, I wanted a suite that can accommodate 6 and on their website they say only up to 5. Anyone know if there are suites with two queens/kings and a pullout sofa/bed?? Maybe I should just call them.

Also, I was going to use Sarge for shuttle service from the lodge, and advice?

Sorry if these are duplicate questions. I just don't want to screw any part of this trip up! I want it to be well planned!!

Thanks for any advice!!!

Missed my sons call on Wednesday but got my second letter from him today. He is doing really well and is in high spirits. This experience has already started making a new man of him. Love that he can accept the challenge of becoming a sailor with such vigor. I couldn't be prouder.

Got a letter today, was glad to hear from him. Others got letters from him as well, which made the day of many friends and family.
