~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep I heard from my son in 161 yesterday. In his last letter he did say Sunday (was nuts all that day waiting) but called about 3:30 Monday. Driving in from OK, fingers crossed and prayers sent that weather will not be an issue.

I hope you all made a list and are all packed up.

I hope there are no travel issues for all of you. If you are driving and it is possible I would consider leaving a day early. Keep a close check on the weather and make changes to your travel plans if necessary. Also if there is rain the city streets in Chicago flood pretty bad. Get a real paper map to help you find a new route. GPS will just keep trying to send you back to the interstate. There will be sections that are open and then closed. It can be a nightmare. It happened to us and took up 4 hours to get through Chicago alone :( Keep your tank full and be prepared for anything. Travel safely!!! Also it is a good idea to share your cell numbers with others going to PIR. In case something were to happen and you are not able to get there someone can find your Sailor and give them a phone to use to contact you and see if you are getting there late.

Well the sleepless nights started last night. I had a dream I missed 5 calls from my sailor and was late to graduation. Come on Friday I need my sleep back :)

LALS:  Sure hope the flooding is not as severe as they think it could be.  All please stay safe!

Good Morning All !   "I'm a Sailor" calls expected today from 163/164.  Did anyone ever hear from 161/162?  They were scheduled to go on Sunday night along with 924.

Comment by LALS on April 23, 2013 at 7:46am

Good Morning Navy Moms!  The flooding forcast looks worrisome.  Are there any Moms on here across Hwy 70 and Hwy 90 from Pittsburg, Cleveland, Toledo, North Indiana, etc.?  I think the big flooding is farther west in Indiana and Missouri, but wondering what smaller rivers across that stretch may be at flood stage or road closures?

Awwww....tell them they need to broaden their horizons!  :-)

Diannp, Both my sons say they don't do pink..LOL

Comment by diannep on April 22, 2013 at 8:43pm

Any calls from 161/162 yet?  Congrats to 924!

ellen:  It would have been even more interesting if your son and his buddies had been carrying those pretty pink bags with the new undies in them!  Would have loved to have seen the face on that poor new sailor in training then!  :-)

Okay. I am assuming navy blue tshirts, not light blue. Well he has money in the bank, so he can always go shopping too.
