~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My SR called yesterday and she sounds wonderful. When asked what the most difficult thing was so far, she reported that the 'girls' fight a lot. She said 'They all want to be Alpha'. LOL I reminded her how she breezed through Middle school and that eventually all of these 'girls' would be women and good friends. 22 minutes of perfect Bliss.

CG2USN, You will know what the PIR date is when you get the form letter from your son. As far as if this is the right group...it is until you know for sure. :) If you find the PIR date is different you can leave this group and join the correct one. So, welcome to the group, either for now or (if your group changes) or until PIR.

The divisions in every TG will be on slightly different times in their training, the only divisions that will be in the same time frame will be brother divisions. This comes from the divisions starting their BC training on different days.

Help. I am not sure I joined the right group as far as the exact PIR date. My son left March 4th, but didn't get to RTC until the 6th due to weather. From my guesstimation! This would be the group. But how do I know for sure? I'm still in the early stages (haven't received the box, still wAiting for letter. I noticed some are in this stage with their child and some are sound like they are further along. Is this normal?

I also got a call from my daughter! At first I couldn't hear, so she called back and the 2nd time was fine. My cell phone showed a number from Waukegan, IL. She sounded just like herself and we talked for about 15 minutes. She has not received any mail yet and she thinks they might get to write letters tomorrow, but it could be next Sunday. She passed her swim test (chrissybear, she said specifically they had to float for 5 mins and put their face in the water twice, but I wouldn't worry that they have to hold their breath for 5 mins). Because I asked, she thinks she is getting a decent amount of sleep. She said she got yelled once for not having her pants pulled up fully to her waist (hah!  so much like her.) She said she had finished Training day 3 of week 1.

My daughter has a close friend who told her that, at some point during boot camp, she would have moment when she would say to herself "What the #$@% am I doing here?"  She had that moment last night. Her friend (who had gone thru Air Force boot camp) told her once she had that moment, everything would get better. Things will get better. So my daughter recognized her "moment". Pretty nice that she was given the opportunity to call home the next day.

She said the racks in her immediate area have some very nice girls and they are quietly helping one another.

My daughter is older (24) and already lived away from home since she left for college so I am thinking about her and so very glad to have gotten to talk to her, but am not missing her desperately. I feel for so many of you who are aching over missing your SR so much; hope you get your calls soon.

Oops, if I set my clocks forward before heading off to bed, it is tomorrow already. Good night, all.

When you get the letters and calls and they are homesick or feeling down remember to give them lots of positive feedback because the next time you hear from them everything probably has changed. It takes time to get used to the way things are done and new rules, new people, etc.  They get the hang of it soon and you will not believe how much your children have grown up and matured.

Chele:  I guess they can get bandaids from Medical, but some like to receive them from home so they don't have to go there.

So happy for those that got phone calls today.  For those that did not remember that things are different for each division. Hang in there and know that they at least you know where they are and have an idea of what they are doing.  If you have not watched the videos on Youtube they are great.
