~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

definitely send back the calling card as well as another one depending on how many minutes they have. Usually they will call 3 times, sometimes more if they have earned extra calls. The number of calls one groups get does not mean they all get that many.

I think that was one of the hardest to get used to with my first one was that we would hear about one div getting this many calls and my son's did not.  One word of advice is if you miss a call do not call the number back, unless you are told to call it back, as you do not know who will answer the phone.

Hmmm....no, they don''t get to call for free unless they are making a "security info" supervised call.  So you may want to mail back that phone card...and maybe another one so he has plenty of minutes!  He probably just was being yelled at with many orders at one time, and threw everything into the box--that happens to many of them who mail back things they could have kept (like wallets).

The pay phones eat up alot of their minutes just connecting.  They can purchase another one in the NEX, but makes it easier on them if you mail them a couple.  If they have extra minutes, many will offer their card to another SR to borrow who many not have any more minutes.

My son's calling card was in his box. His recruiter said maybe they get to call for free. Does anyone know?

miche:  TG=Training Group....that is just a way to number each PIR group throughout the year.

Welcome to the group and to the other new members also!

FYI-I changed my photo and name from CEL821 with Dee Dee from Dexter's laboratory as my pic, to Connie(Ship03 Div164) with my real pic .

I am pretty stoked about my son starting his real training.  I think he will have fun once he gets the hang of things.

Got my letter today!  I think this is the PIR group I am suppose to be in, one question, what does the TG 24 mean?  I look forward to getting to know fellow moms (and dads)!

I am sure we will all have our good and bad days. The knowing he is not accesible is what is torture. My two older sons live out of state, but I can pick up the phone and call them anytime. Not the case with my SR. That is what kills me, not hearing his voice. I can't wait to meet you ladies in person. is there a sight for Dad's like this? Any suggestions?

Comment by Mary on March 8, 2013 at 3:49pm

Roxy Marie Iknow what you mean-I rushed to mailbox so fast that at 6pm I looked at my husband and said-I forgot to put a stamp on the envelope!!! Thank God it was still there-LOL Sooo emotional..

Chrissybear are we allowed to share our sons names? I am so new at this.

Comment by 5boys on March 8, 2013 at 3:49pm

I sure hope I get that letter today...I have sent off 5 letters, though. :) I'm beginning to like his recruiter. :) Did you all know that there are facebook pages for each PIR? Also, for the 900 division folks, there is a facebook page for them.
