N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks! Well I guess my brother will have to go see him in pensacola. I will make sure my SR adds his brother. Lucky him, he gets to go see graduation in Pensacola with his dad too!

Going for a walk and headed to bed...NITE!

Correct, Ranibabi:  They have to train the Recruit Mail Petty Officer before mail can be delivered to them and they usually can't write their first letters until after about 2 weeks (usually on a Sunday, mailed out on Monday).  After that, they receive mail M-F but usually can only write on Sundays, mailed on Mondays.

CEL:  Welcome!

Depending on how many divisions are in this group, 3 or 4 guests will be allowed per sailor.  Thinking 4 guests as we think there will be 11 divisions.  The 5th will not be allowed in, CEL---sorry...unless you have any 2 yrs and under.  They don't count on the list.  Yes, the SRs have a chance to change the names on the list a couple of weeks before PIR.

Navymom, thanks! I am glad our men are together.

Thank you dianne!

We shouldnt expect mail for at least two weeks then right? I just for the form letter tonight. You all recommend flying in on Thursday and leaving Monday, correct?

Comment by Connie821 on March 7, 2013 at 10:57pm
Finally got the letter! Also Ship 03 division 164. Does anyone know how to have 5 people attend the graduation? And does it matter if the names change from what was marked on the form letter?

Yes, Chele:  They usually can write on Sunday and mail out on Monday.  Later on in bootcamp, they may be allowed to write more often, but that was the only time my son was allowed to write when he was there too.

Ranibabi:  The Div 160 would be correct....150 is in another PIR group.  Welcome to the group!

ochoas:  Good to see you on here!  Where have you been???

On booking flights, if you can book with Southwest Airlines, they have no change fee if your SR gets delayed in training, and 2 bags check for free.  You would only have to pay the difference in fare if there is a change.  So you could go ahead and book with them if you find a cheap rate!  They fly into Milwaukee (45 minutes to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and to Chicago-Midway (about an hour from RTC, but more traffic so it can be longer).

Welcome to the other new members of the group!  So glad you are here!  I am one of the N4Moms veterans on here to help you all through.  Ask any and all questions you want to!  There are a team of us on here so we will try to answer promptly.

Mommafox! Our SRs are in the same group! Got the box Tuesday and letter today. Hang in there, maybe just a delay with the box. Looking forward to a real letter from my son!
