~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The calls can come in at any time.  So always have your phone handy if you can!  Don't focus on one set time just because that happened before...keep your phone on your body, on ring AND vibrate so you don't miss the calls.

KC, I got a phone call Saturday around 1030am. Not sure if it will be like that all the time. Just keep your phone on you every where you go, including the bathroom.

My son is in ship 13 div. 164.  I am so glad to hear that we are all feeling the same way. I was very emotional when I got my box and the letter. I know he is doing well and prepared himself prior to leaving for boot camp but I still find myself feeling very "teary" when I think about him. I look forward to his first call.  My other son will be leaving for boot camp on Oct. 1st. i sure hope I am less emotional the next go around!

Does anyone have an idea what time of the day the calls come?  Has anyone received a call yet from their son or daughter?

chanwife1-My son left with your husband from Columbia. I haven't received a call yet either but fingers crossed we get a surprise this weekend. I need to hear my son's voice. I've mailed my letters too. I've heard no news is good news so at least we know they are safe and going forward! I'll say a prayer for you!

chanwife 1, I am sorry you are having such a hard time. Know that you have a lot of support here. You can do this. I pray for all the moms, wives and girl friends on this page. God be with you and bless you with HIS strength.

chanwife1 I hear you---it was such a shock to see my SR's handwriting, even though it was only his address at the corner of the envelope of the form letter. It was like remembering he still exists! I sent him 7 front to back letters with another one sitting in my desk drawer at work. And I KNOW he didn't memorize my phone number...so I had to send it to him! From this point forward my phone is never on "silent."

Im feeling down today because I havent got a call since my SR arrived. Only the form letter whicb wasnt a letter by him. I have already sent a total of 7 letters so im just waiting impatiently. This is hard and i understand the circumstamces but I just want to hear his boice even if its just for 10seconds. I pray and ask for strength and write everytime i miss him and keep busy but it is NOT working. Lucky to whoever has gotten calls.

Thank You Craig for all the information!!!!

I can't wait for the letters to start coming in. I know they don't have much time to write. I have sent something everyday, even if it is just letter that says "I am proud of you, and you can do this". Normally I will add some picture on the letter also. Have a great day ladies. I come here several times a day, to see how everyone is doing.
