Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Aec, welcome aboard. Make sure the address you got for the recruiter is the correct one. I have read stories where they are not always right. In my case the recruiter was correct, but be sure to check the form letter that his dad will get, to make sure.

Hi all, my boyfriend of 4 years is set to graduate may 2nd! I am so proud and so excited! His dad received his box, and his recruiter was wonderful
And got us his address semi early, I've already started sending letters! He is ship 013 div 164! A friend of mine told
Me about this site and how wonderful it was! :) pleased to meet you all.

I am not sure if the letter will get there in time, but I do know my son had all three phone numbers with him, in case the first one he called (mine, :) ) did not get answered. So I would say he would should keep calling till he gets an answer.

If our SRs can call again this week, we may miss the call due to a meeting we need to attend. If we don't answer the home phone, can they make a 2nd call, such as to one of our cell phones (which we will have on us)? We could leave our meeting for awhile. Do you think we could get a letter to him in time to tell him to simply call his dad's cell?

For Special Ops divisions (800 divisions), definitely no piks or names. For those in regular divisions (100s), no last names of SRs are allowed, posting first names is discouraged, as well as pictures of your SRs, because RDCs sometimes do look at the N4Moms and FB pages ....best to keep your posts as separate from your SR as possible. It is also a practice in OPSEC....which must be maintained when in the fleet.

Just FYI to all in the group I was given some info from a seasoned sailor mom and she was telling me not to post any pics of our SR and not to use their names for security purposes . Just FYI feel free I am just passing on info that I received. Cheers to our sons and daughters in their new chapters.
