Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 175 and 176.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

I know what you mean about his phone being his life line. I am worried that I wont get a phone call because he does't know my phone number by heart.
I am having mixed emotions about others going with me. I know it's selfish but I would love to be able to go by myself and have this time with him one on one. I get to also spend Sat. and Sunday with him so I would like to take him to Six Flags. I was never able to take him to Disneyland when he was growing up. Am i the only one feeling this way?
I am letting my daughter use his phone while he is gone and when she texts or calls me it comes up with his name, Oryan.
I get all excited but then remember. :(
Don't worry proudmomma he WILL call! Maybe it is selfish but I feel exactly like you do about others going! My son and "the love of his life" reunited three weeks before he left for boot camp on 05/11 and he asked me before he left to PLEASE MOM...make sure she's there! He's 21 years old and I don't make his decisions. Maybe...she won't be able to go. I am thinking about Six Flags also but I guess it will depend on how much time we will actually have with him. We will be arriving in Great Lakes on Wednesday 5/1. We have our rooms resreved at The Quality Inn in Waukegan...it was the closet one I could find. Would love to try to meet anyone who can before or after! We'll be there until Sunday.
Makes me feel better. :) I havent made my reservations yet. :( Where are you flying into? The brochure has one airport on it and I think this is where we will be flying into. It is cheaper and can get flights straight there. :)
My postman must think I'm nuts because I meet him at his truck before he even has time to get out... And I know the letter won't come until next week (hopefully) Just wishful thinking!
oh, my son's girlfriend just called me. He had called her, then was going to call us, but was cut off suddenly and not allowed to call after all. He has the flu and is so run down. He said he got a lot of shots and it may be from one of those. He's getting only about 3 hrs of sleep a night he told her. He wants us to write too- (we've written every day this week, but he hasn't rec'd them yet.) He'll call when he can, and he was made a leader of some sort....He's drinking tea (tea? he never drank tea at home!) eating well to try to beat the flu.(I thought he got a flu shot already this year...I guess he didn't.) Well, it was good to hear he's been doing ok, other than getting sick. I can't wait to hear from him and hope he feels healthy again soon! He hardly ever gets sick here...
I got a call today! He sounded tired and he has a cold. Be talked to me for a couple of minutes and then tried to call one of his friends and grandma and neither answered so he called me back. He sounded so sad. I asked what was wrong and he started to cry. I havent heard him cry in years. Broke my heart. He said he missed his family and that its easy but mentally its hard. As soon as they got there the yelling started. But he has passed all his tests and hopes to hear back this week if he will be moved up to a D2. He has a friend and they read my letters and asked if I could send him one as well. I was so excited to be able to talk to him but it broke my heart when he had to quickly hang up. I know it broke his heart to. He tries not to carry his emotions on his shoulders but I bet this has been so hard for him.
Did any other moms get calls today?
Has anyone received a personal letter yet? I know other division have gotten a personal letter, but has anyone from these two divisions gotten a letter?
When I talked to my SR Saturday he said he hasn't had time yet to write. I hope they gave all the SR's time on Sunday to write..
What division is your son in? 175 or 176?
