Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 812 and 813

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Thanks SpecMom

Your Sailors will not be allowed to wear civies until they have phased up. How long that takes can/may depend on base and rating, it can even be different from BEQ (ship/barracks) to BEQ.You might want to take their favorite pair of jeans and a couple of t-shirts. There are rules on civies too, pant legs cannot touch the ground, jeans cannot be faded, torn, patched etc, and t-shirts that are navy blue or white must have something printed on them.

For the men, if they normally don't wear tighty-whities, take them their boxers. Boxer must be solid color, no print, no design (skip the Sponge Bob and paisley). Same for the females, if they don't normally wear granny-panties, that usually can double as a parachute if needed :), take them their underwear.

They can have laptops, cell phones etc, and don't forget the charges for their electronics.

Don't plan on giving them another bag to carry, they already will have a seabag, garment bag, and backpack. What extra you give them should fit in those. They cannot rely on someone helping them carry things...ever.

Thanks Ellen, that helps tremendously.

That is so helpful. Thanks a bunch!

Does anyone know how long is the Seal Prep School? The one they go to right after graduation from BC.
Found the answer. As soon as I posted the question.
Ok, now that I have read up on Seal Prep School. Does anyone know why is the training 5 to 9 weeks? Is it based on when the next BUDs class starts or based on when they meet requirements?

I was thinking it was 8 weeks for enlisted (maybe 5 is for officers)...but i'm not sure - would love some confirmation.

I'm trying to understand the schedule/timing:

The PIR is on Friday and then do they start prep school on Monday and go for 8 weeks? During their prep school will they have weekends 'free' if someone were to come into town could they leave base and go out for a meal?

NWShelly, see this link for some answers: http://navyformoms.com/group/prebudsmomss

After PIR on Friday -- they have a lot of free time and then start up again in PreBuds Monday morning. It's usually two months and it's difficult to plan weekends but they do have some free time to go off base for meals, etc. He will know more the first couple of days he is there and can tell you more at that time.

Good morning everyone!  I guess I must say goodbye to this division.. My son has officially been transferred out of SWCC and from the 800 division.  He has a genetic marker which disqualifies him from serving in spec ops. (it has never affected his life at any level, but they won't allow him to continue)

It has been rough couple of weeks as he has navigated his new choices and options.  SO hard to get through with such short 1 minute phone calls so randomly.  However, with God's constant steering and guidance, he has made the move to another division and will continue in the Navy.

I will continue to pray for all of you as you continue on your journeys!  And still hope to meet you at PIR if possible.  This really is a roller coaster! lol

My6kids,  I am really sorry to hear this.  without knowing names it is hard to be sure, but when my son called home, he talked about a young man who he met there and said he has left his division, because of this problem you talked about.  He said he is really going to miss him, he said he was a great guy.  I hope your son is doing better, and does well in his journeys with the navy.  I also hope to meet you at PIR.  Praying for your Son and Your Family.  Hope You have a Happy Easter.  But I know we will be missing Our Sons.

Thanks for the prayers KimE'smom!  It is so nice to have a connection to my son through others (if that is him your son was talking about)  I do hope to meet you at PIR!

Happy Easter to you too!
