~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

jodysc:  Gateway may be a little cheaper, but I think you will find Navy Lodge more convenient!

Some SRs may have had appts on base during the division calls.  There can be many reasons some didn't call.  Hope they call soon!

Good Morning!

JsMomJen.   The SRs update their lists right before PIR (about a week before) so write that extra name in a letter for our SR.

Checkout Southwest Airlines into Milwaukee or Chicago-Midway.  Milwaukee is shorter drive, no traffic.  No change fee, 2 bags check for free.  If your SR is delayed, you won't be charged to change your ticket.  Check their one-way fares....sometimes 2 of those are cheaper than a roundtrip.

Be careful with the online discount travel sites.  Some have stiff penalties for changes or cancellations.  Know their policies.  I had to change my reservations since my son was delayed a week when he was there....it happens sometimes.  Just know what you are booking.  We have seen some sad cases on here where a SR wasn't going to graduate on time and ladies were trying to "sell" their hotel rooms on here because they were with a discount travel agency that was going to make them pay.

The Navy Lodge is located in the family housing subdivision, there is not a gate to enter. and you do not have to have a military ID to stay there. You are free to come and go as you please, abd so is your Sailor. The reservation is placed in your SRs name as they are sponsoring you.

I knew that couldn't be true! Thanks for clearing that up.

JsMomJen: Your SR will put the names of his choice on the Access List 10 days prior to the PIR so if there is someone you need added MAKE SURE you tell him/her this when you speak with them. Also its a good idea to write the information in a letter as well. Before making travel plans for the 4th added name I'd confirm your SR knows this information ahead of time and agrees to added them to the access list.

As for airlines, you could check sites like Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. for good deals. Southwest has really good deals considering there's no charge for the first 2 pieces of luggage, but they do not fly into O'hare.

So happy for the families of 174 that got calls today. Still confused why only SOME SR' s were able to call.  I know at least 4 of us who didn't get calls so I don't think it was a watch thing.

Hi All-  My SR is graduating 5/16 and I just had a couple of questions that I was hoping someone could help me with: 1) have you purchased your airline tickets yet? If so, are there any special deals through specific airlines, or a travel agent we are supposed to use? 2) I see that it says on this group heading that our SR's are allowed 4 guests, but mine only listed 3 on the form letter- will we get to add another person?

Thanks for your help- and please let me know if I am posting in the wrong place- I am just feeling a little lost right now...

Navy GATEWAY on A School base is the prohibitive hotel re: sailors visiting without a chit....must have military ID to stay there too.  Navy LODGE is fine, like MonkeyBoysMom said.
