OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ship 14 Div 175 PIR 16May2014! Just got my letter and my kid in a box. Still no phone call since the "I made it here" a week ago today. When can I expect the first real call?
Comment by AwaitingMySailor(Ship13Div.174) on March 31, 2014 at 3:24pm
Anyone know when should we expect the 2nd call. Our first conversation was Saturday but didn't even last for more than 10 minutes. I sent him mail Saturday. . I pray it doesn't take long to get to him since we're in the same state. This is all so hard for me we have two small children and we miss him desperately

Thanks, I don't understand the monthly fee. The deposit should cover any carpet cleaning or anything the pets could do but to charge monthly makes no sense at all. We are keep the small dog for them and My son-in-law will talk the bigger dog, Golden Retriever with him traveling all the way across the country from VA to CA. That should be interesting. Everything in CA is just so expensive. I don't even know how they are going to be able to afford to live there. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. I am sure God will take care of them <3

My husband is in ship 04 div 813
I will try to stay anonymous since he is in the 800 division and I have heard not to reveal our identity.

Good luck to your sons, daughters and husbands!
