Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 187 and 188
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Hi Cathy!
We will probably stay at the Ramada Inn again this year. We stayed there last year and went to the meet and greet there. It was nice but I think we'll probably go to Sarge's this year. I've heard so much about it that I thought it would be a nice change. If you stay at the Ramada Inn, you are more than welcome to follow us over to Sarge's. If not, maybe we can meet up later on and have our own meet and greet. :)

Hi Dawn. I wanted to say thank you for your kind message. Thank you for keeping me and my son in your prayers. I am feeling much better today. I know he is in good hands...and I write him every day, so I know he knows I care...even though I did miss both of his phone calls...:(
I read where your son had his wisdom teeth out. My son has his out on Wednesday, and he is pretty scared about having that done. He found out he has 5 wisdom teeth! Anyway, he said they are not going to put him to sleep. Is that true? What was your son't experience like?
I see you are going to stay at the Ramada. We are too, and I look forward to meeting you...:)
Hi Cathy,
I still am not sure how the calls go. I missed both of the calls from my son, but they both came at around the same time. Both were around 5pm EST. on a Saturday. The message he left me this past Saturday said he was probably not going to call again until after he passes Battlestations....:( I don't know if that is correct or not. That is still awhile off. Anyway, hopefully you will get that call from your sailor very soon....:) Hang in there. We are going to be staying at the Ramada Inn...so hope to see you there! I;m still not sure where we will go to the meet and greet. I've heard so many good things about Sarges...we might go to that one. It will probably depend on what time we get there. We will be driving in from NC.
Hello everyone! My son is in Ship 13, Div 187. He is scheduled to attend A school in San Antonia, TX. We have been blessed with a couple of phone calls from him and the calls lasted a lot longer than we expected (about 40 mins). It was so good to hear his voice and to hear everything that he has been doing.
My husband and I are looking forward to PIR. We are almost halfway there! :)
Hi Streetmom! Our son's are in the same ship and division. My son will be attending A school in Pensacola, Florida. I look forward to hopefully meeting you at PIR...:) Cheryl
Good morning all!
Welcome to Ship 13, Streetmom! It's so great to have you on board!!
Cathy, I didn't get to talk to my SR personally so I don't know about if they put him under or not. My guess would be no, they wouldn't but I don't know for sure. I will include this in my prayers for your SR, though, that he is wrapped in comfort and that his anxiety over the surgery is eased. I know how scary it is to face something like that and when you don't have the comfort of home to look forward to after, well it has to be rough. Many prayers going out!!
Almost halfway thru - can you all believe it? I am going to make my paper chain to hang up here at work in my cubicle. I did this for my SR last year and it does help. Seems like once it stops touching my desk, it goes so fast and before you know it, it's off to Great Lakes!
Hope everyone has a great day!
-Dawn
Thank you, Dawn....:) I'm going to make a paper chain too...:) What a great idea! Every little reminder helps that PIR will be here soon, and I will get to see him.
Have a wonderful evening! Thank you for your prayers.
Cheryl
Hello everyone,
It is good to see everyone's responses and welcomes. It is nice to chat with people dealing with the same issues....missing our SRs. This is such a great website, I find myself visiting it all of the time trying to absorb as much information as possible.
I do have a question about PIR. We are taking care of my son's German shepherd while he is away and he has requested that we bring her with us to PIR. Will she be allowed on base? Does anyone have any idea what the guidelines are for dogs?
And speaking of phone calls, when we talked to him on Saturday he said the next scheduled call was April 10th...today! Seemed like an odd day for a phone call, but hopefully I will get to talk to him again.
Streetmom: I reviewed the RTC website's Family guide, http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide_v14Mar2013.pdf
and didn't seen anything about not allowing pets on base. I would check with RTC Public Affairs Office at 847-688-2405.
I did hear someone else say that their SR indicated their next phone call would be Wednesday. Let us all hope that is correct and they do get to make calls today.
I just wake up every day with the thought that today might be the day for a call! :)
No animals allowed on base at graduation, except for service animals.
