Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I recieved my first "letter" today from my son. He speeks very highly of the people that are in his division/ ship. I am so glad he is with a great "crew"! Must be they all have great people surrounding them outside the Navy as well. ' Can't wait to meet everyone!

Hi Amy, my call and first letter came around the same time. Our son also spoke highly of the others in his ship and division. Our son is div 928. When we got our call, he said he could hear crying all around him...recruits taklking to their parents. We held it together, just thrills to hear from him and wanting to find out as much as we could from him. They are really moving ahead. PIR is coming fast!

Just received our second letter yesterday, 4/23! After learning these 900 division recruits have more to do than some of the rest, we thought the letters may stop coming. It was so thrilling to get that surprise i was jumping up and down, crying praises to God for that letter. They seem to be rounding a corner and really working as a team, becoming closer friends, and gaining confidence. According to our son, they have had their 2nd academic test and their division won a flag. They also had their dress uniforms come in and they had pictures taken.
Does anyone have any other news from their division? I have to say, he seems very happy there, says food is good, guys are great. God bless you all and your recruits!

We got letters yesterday- love it! So glad our son is happy. He was very impressed by the uniforms... I wonder if he knows the cost?! :) He loves the food and the people- he said they are starting to work better as a team, that they are "getting what it's all about". Can't wait to see him at PIR!!! Bless them all.

It is so good that they are working as a unit, becoming friends...the navy is where my son was destined to be as he became a man. These guys in this division must be special. They will have another test this week...let's all pray for wisdom, clarity, recall, and success for them!

My daughter is in Div 928 on ship 02. I am late joining this discussion but, She has spoken so highly of so many of her fellow SRs that I wanted to get to know some of the family members.

Moosemom070914, Hello! I too have had trouble understanding the ins and outs of this forum, but have gathered a ton of helpful information here. Our son is in Div 928 on Ship 2 as well, and has PIR on May 22!!! They would know one another. I think the girls are across the hall. Our son is singing at PIR, what is your daughter doing in this performance division? Heard from the recruiter yesterday that the 900 Division has less physical training because they have the extra performance practices. So excited to see them! Are you going to Sarge's Meet and Greet Thursday night? Any news from the division you have heard?

Our daughter is also in Division 928 Ship 02 Cannot wait to see her!!! She too speaks highly of all the folks around her and how time has gone on how they're becoming even more of team! Will continue my daily letter routine and patiently wait for hers along with the random phone call! I can already hear through the letters what a growing experience this is - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually! She and some of her shipmates ( sorry don't have all those acronyms down yet) are finding shared support by having an evening devotion together! God is good!

Mommab, welcome here! I am so glad your daughter is already exhibiting positive change and growth! How many letters have you gotten? We only got 2 so far, one short, and one 3 pages of their letterhead. I hope and pray they are all growing physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I sure hope our son Nathan is part of those devotions. He did tell me he was participating in one on their first night there...that really made me so happy! Victory is in HIM...GOD be with them all.

Michelle0206, as we are driving up from Alabama and not exactly sure what time we will make it into Great Lakes/Waukegan, I am not sure we will make it to Sarge's meet and greet. I know we would love to go. I usually get letters on Thursday, so today is hopefully Letter Day!! There are some young men that my daughter speaks very highly of that she knows from when they practice singing. I wonder if one is your son?

My daughter is in 928, plays clarinet. She's making lots of good friends and especially talks quite a bit of her rack mate and another one in the rack next to her. I know we can't drop names on here, but she was telling me in today's letter that a lot of her friends' moms are on here. Perhaps if yall are on the fb page I can find yall. She gave me last names. She said they've been going to church services. They took their pictures today. We are going to PIR but will probably miss the meet and greet as we will pick my son, who's also in Navy, up from th airport kind of late in the evening. We went to the meet and greet 2 1/2 years ago when he had PIR. It was very informative. I look forward to meeting all her friends at PIR!
