Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son called this afternoon after his capping ceremony. He started talking and I said, "You didn't say what you were supposed to say." He didn't know what I was talking about. After waiting for 7 1/2 weeks, I wanted to hear those three words, "I'm a sailor" so I had to tell him what they were. It was so sweet the way he said them. He sounded like a man, not the boy that left.
He also said that all passed BS21 but is sad because some of his friends are ASMO'd. It is sad that they build these relationships and have to let them go. So prayers for those and their families.
I got my PIR ribbons today: they are beautiful!!! So worth the small cost. See you guys in 2 1/2 days!!!

Just heard from My Sailor, Yay!! He did say everyone in Div. 202 passed BattleStations. Congrats to all the new sailors :)

azplantlady: What she probably doesn't know is that they let them go to bed at 8 pm the day they finish BattleStations! So she will get those extra 2 hours. They will sleep like babies, being so tired and knowing they are now sailors!

Justin'sMom: To request friends, just click on the person's screen name or photo in a post, and it will take you to their personal page. You will see the prompt "Add a friend" on the left side. Just click on that and a friend request will be sent to that person! Once they accept it, you will see their photo on the left side of your personal page and you are now friends with them. You can then send them messages!

Just got a call from my Sailor (Div 201)! I'm so excited for PIR this Friday and spend some time with him! My husband, myself and youngest son will be attending Sarge's meet and greet the day before...anyone else going? Would love to connect on here. I'm new to the group so not real familiar with how to request friends!

Just heard from my daughter. She said that everyone in Divisions 201 & 202 passed battle stations! She said that she had been up since 5:30 am yesterday and wouldn't be allowed to sleep until 10:00 tonight.
According to her, the capping ceremony was quite emotional. Super excited for all the new sailors and can't wait for Friday!

XOXO. I think I'll break down if I end up missing his call because I'm on a run. Still at least I will know something today, even if I have to get it 2nd hand from my husband. So I will say a prayer for you today. Stay strong, it's almost time for us to see them and I'll try and stand strong with you.
