~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The other "gate pass", Luvmyboyz, is the one for your car if you plan to drive on base for PIR. This is available for you to download from the RTC site 11 days before PIR. SO it is available NOW. Just one gate pass needed per car.
Luvmyboyz: Yes, he is talking about putting down the guests for PIR. However, they are allowed to have 4 if they want---this is for the PIR, not the gate passes at the airport.
You can meet him at the airport (can't ride with him). They are all bussed out there in the wee hours of the morning to wait for flights. Yes, you can obtain an airlines gate pass with your sailor present at the airlines counter. Be sure all in your group have ID to get these passes. It is up to the airlines to limit how many can be in a group, but we have never heard of this being a problem.
Thank you FireTeamLeaderWife!! The one phone call I received since he has been gone (5 minutes) I asked if we can go to the airport with him and he said, "Yes, I have put 3 down. Is the "gate pass" what my SR was referring to when he said he will have 3 (his wife, me and his little brother) even though 4 will be attending PIR?
If you have given your SR a phone card and if s/he will not need it any longer after BC, and it still has lots of minutes on it at, you might think about asking your SR to "pass it on" to another SR when he/she has used it for the last time. There can be lots of SRs who do not have a phone card to call home that would really appreciate it.
My son passed his on (it was an 800 minute card) without me even asking him to do so, it was used for several months after he got out of BC. It was a card that could be reloaded, and it was re-loaded several times and not by me. I have stopped looking at it so I don't know if it is still being used, but it was nice to know that it was.
Here is some info regarding meeting your Sailor at the Airport:
Yes, you will need a Gate Pass. You must meet your Sailor so they can go to the ticket counter to obtain a Gate Pass for you. Have your ID for anyone who wishes to do so.
The Sailors go to the USO (if there is time between checking in and boarding) to wait for their flights.
Here is the USO info:
