~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

So far I have have received 2 phone calls and 3 letters(which I received together). Going through a little dry spell. I keep reading the old letters. The mailman must think I'm stalking him. Thank God we have this site or I think I would go crazy. I know they are in week 4 and are crazy busy this week. If it wasnt for the information we get here, we would have no idea what they are doing.Hang in there ladies 29 days to go. Just RSVP'd to Sarges Meet and Greet on the 23rd!
Got a call sunday from my husband and letters yesterday along with another phone call! I was so happy!
Good Morning! A couple of questions for anyone that may know. The first concerns our SR's pay. My son filled out a direct deposit form before he left and took it with him. He mentioned something in his last call that they had been paid but did not have any details. In checking his bank account, I saw that not deposit had been made as of yet. Does anyone know if they have received any pay or will it be on the 1st of the month? The second question is regarding A School. He is going to Lackland AFB for Master-At-Arms School. I know it's a bit soon but does anyone know anything about life in A School? He was wondering if, at some point, they get any free time to see the city, go to a movie, etc. Anyone can shed some light on that? Thanks.
Good Morning!
tylerandtony: When they "flag", that is a great thing! Means they accomplished something as a division!

We got a call from our son, too! What a fabulous surprise to get 2 calls in a week. We also got a letter today! He has a cold and sounded a little tired, but he sounded confident and I think he is adapting very well. Tylerandtony, our sons must be in the same division b/c my son mentioned receiving a flag too! They were measured for all of their clothing today. It was a long process, but I could tell my son was excited about the new attire :-) He reminded me how much he loves the letters and the pics that we have been sending.
Congrats on the calls, I know it warms your heart just to hear their voice :) Keep writing those encouraging letters. I am sure they have expressed by now how much the letters help them get through each day :)
Good Morning :)
I haven't been on here in a few days, so I went through some recent posts....talk about tears of joy for all of you and me for receiving calls from our SR's!! sounds like all of our kids are on the same page with runs, having a cold etc...AND that May 24th can't come quick enough!! my daughter too is doing well, pass her run the 2nd time, has a head cold/allergies bc of the weather, loves all the mail :)
It is always better to send any "news items" embeddied in the content of the letter. There are RDCs that don't want them to have actual news articles mailed. Others don't mind.
Also, a caution to all to be careful what kind of news you are sending them. They need to stay focused on their training (the reason the RDCs want to limit their exposure to the news) so keep that in mind when sending info. Sports scores, etc are fine. But world events may not be.
Good Morning All!
