~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Glad this week is coming to an end in Boston @ of my daughters were in Lock down in Boston Hospitals but no the worse is over. Heartfelt thoughts to all the victims of this unnecessary tragedy. All are home safe now God bless us everyone!
Yes, Boston is a very Happy City today... Proud of our City!!
Amen, diannep.
Good Morning! It is a beautiful day....but not nearly as beautiful as it must be for the people of Boston waking up this morning! God Bless all of the people involved with bringing this horrible tragedy to a "close" and many prayers/blessings for the victims/families as they grieve and recover. You have a nation behind you every step of the way!
For those with sailors staying in GL for A School.
On Friday after PIR you will have approx one hour with them before they have to return to their ship at the RTC and move over to the other side (TSC). This process will take several hours. Make sure you have your cell phone with you, your Sailors will call when they are ready to leave. That phone call can come at anytime Friday afternoon from as early as 2pm ish. Make sure you answer all phone calls even if it is not from area code 847. Sometimes the other sailors already in school allow them to use their cell phone to make that call. Your sailor will have been briefed on what time they have to be back to their ship. Get them back early they cannot be late, if they are they can lose the rest of their liberty that weekend. ON TIME IS LATE!
On Saturday and Sunday they will/should also also have liberty. They can leave sometime after 6am, and again they will call you. They will meet you at the front gate, and you must go back with them to their ship to check them out. Your gate pass may help you to drive them back to their ship to check them out, but if you are not allowed to drive them you will have to walk with them. Be prepared for the walk it is a long way from the gate to the ships.
When you return them on Sat and Sun night (they will know what time they must be back) again, you may be able to drive them back, but you may be walking. The same person who checks them out in the morning must be the same one to check them back in at night. Get there early they cannot be late back to their ship.
I will have more info as you get a little closer to PIR. :)
But no one will get to see the design until PIR and I think that is the whole reason behind this. The DIV flag is not supposed to be revealed until PIR and parents were posting pics of them on here and on facebook. Now that won't happen. I wonder if that is one of the reasons the other company lost their contract.
I order as much as possible online. Especially now that I have an injured knee. Shopping is just too painful. With a small business you have to order online to get what you need :)
On a selfish note...we all get to see the design as well :-)
Thanks LaLa.!
You know, that's kinda cool. One less "thing" for the Recruits and Families while in BC.
Personally, I would wait until after BC and do it online. At least for those who have Sailors departing the next day for their A schools. Time is of value then :-)
The ones with Sailors going to GL TSC for A school will have some time on their hands as they have to wait for their Sailor to INDOC for a few hours and so could go do it then.
I'm lazy...I'd do it online!
you will no longer be able to buy the shirts with the DIV FLag on the back until after PIR. You can place your order while you are at PIR or order online when you get back home. This is all new. In the past families could get them before but the new company doing the shirts is doing everything differently.
