N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Does anyone have flight information on sailors going to San Antonio?

Full moon rising over Lake Michigan at dusk...stunningly beautiful. A clear sky, deepening blue. The old man in the moon smiling across the calm lake with his reflection from horizon to shore. Lake Michigan is more like the sea than a lake. You cannot see the opposite shore. Great Lakes Naval Base is a perfect location for training young sailors. You begin to understand the beauty of the ocean and why it calls to the hearts of so many. A perfect ending for a perfect day.

Congratulations to all the new Sailors and their families and friends! Wishing you all smooth sailing ahead.

You will need a Gate Pass. You must meet your Sailor so they can go to the ticket counter to obtain a Gate Pass for you. Have your ID for anyone who wishes to do so.

The Sailors go to the USO (if there is time between checking in and boarding) to wait for their flights.

Here is the USO info:

USO Info

USO locations at airports: O'Hare (ORD), Midway (MDW) and Milwaukee (MKE) all have USO Centers.
The USO at O'Hare is located OUTSIDE of the secured area in Terminal 2 above the Delta Airlines Ticket counter - so anyone can access it. Open 24/7. Phone Number: (773) 686-7396
The USO at Midway Airport is located INSIDE of the secured area in Concourse C - you must have a boarding pass or courtesy pass to get beyond TSA security area. Both USO's are . Open 9AM - 9PM, 7 days a week (14/7 as military need arises). Phone: (773) 582-5852
The USO at Milwaukee is INSIDE the secured are in Concourse D. Across from Gate D30. It is open 8AM-8PM ,7 days a week. Phone: (414) 455-8108
We never see Sailors depart from MKE but I included it anyways.

Make sure that they still have a working Phone card on PIR day if they need to call you from the AP.

Ask them to write down their itinerary on PIR day.  Sailors are usually bussed to the AP in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday F'rinstance...mine left RTC at midnight Friday night to get to the AP by 1 AM...his flight left around 6 AM.

BTW don't post departure info details (airline, flight # and times)  before it happens...OPSEC.

jmyers:  Do you know your sailor's flight info?  And what time he/she will be bussed to the airport (usually in the very early hours on Sat)?  You can meet there and wait with them.  Go with your sailor to the airlines counter to get a gate pass so you can wait until the plane departs.  Hopefully you know which airport since they depart from both Midway and OHare.  USO personnel will be there to help sailors and families.
