N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lala Ribbon Queen: That's what I wanted to know, thank you very much!

They usually get 10 days between A-school and their nest duty station. Could be c-school or their first base. If it is C-school some choose to wait until after c-school to come home and some who get assigned to a ship that is at sea may go straight to the ship and come home after it returns. It is all based on what the Navy Needs and what the Sailor chooses to do (if allowed) I am unsure if that time comes from built up leave or not. If it does they are usually allowed to go in the hole and take more days than they have banked up.

diannep: I understand about how they accrue leave time. I was wondering, however, if they give them a certain amount of travel time to report to their next duty station after A school. For instance, when I completed my AIT school (Army for A School) most everyone was given a two week leave before having to report to our next post. At 2.5 days a month, he will certainly not have accrued much leave time to come home and unwind a little....

Jsmom, Have not received a letter yet either. Did get a phone call last Saturday so we are very grateful for that. I do expect a letter today or tomorrow since he did say that they were allowed to mail letters last Sunday. It will be great getting one because we are quickly running out of things to write him about. Continually telling him how much we miss him is probably not helping him much.... Yes, he is also on Ship 03, Div 202. We understand that there are at least two meet-and-greets so we will have to see which to attend. It will probably be Sarge's as I understand that he provides much more information. Since we are driving up from Virginia and leaving before the crack of dawn on Wednesday, we should be there late in the evening or early on Thursday if we decide to stop for the night along the way. Hope to see you there depending on when your flight gets in. Don't know if you mentioned it but, where is your son going after boot camp?

patti I hope your sons medical issues clear up and he is able to go back in 6 months. Jeesh, 5 a.m. on Saturday. That will give us very little time toegther since she will have to report back to the ship Friday evening. We may only get a few hours with her on Friday then. ;-(

We received our 3rd phone call from our recruit on Saturday. She sounded wonderful. She said that because her div 201 is doing well, they have gotten extra phone privledges. It's nice to know that they are coming together as a unit. Just counting down the days until we can see her at gradaution and for the hours we get to spend with her before she leaves for Pensacola. Its my understanding, from reading other posts, that those heading to Pensacola, will be leaving on Saturday, not Sunday. Does anyone know if this is true?

Good morning, another question for you diannep........Will we at some point be able to send back the everyday clothes, cell phones, etc to our recruits? Maybe in school, after school? Actually mine will end up on a submarine so not sure if he will be taking much with him at all.....Is there e-mail contact from a sub? Please say yes.................
