Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Motherof3sons,how did you find out he was in a push division and what is that?

Comment by Motherof3sons on April 10, 2013 at 8:14pm

Still waiting on "the" letter. I have been processing these past 2 weeks based on what I thought he was experiencing.  But, today I found out he was in a push division so I am a little concerned how he handled the delay,  I don't know what I would do without this website and the awesome people that take the time to address concerns.

Hello my fiancé is in ship 12 div 199/200. How do you know where they will be going to A school. I think he mentioned something about marryland before he left but how can I find out. He is in mass communication.

Did anyone get a letter from their recruit? I did not as I was hoping to. Maybe they did not get their mail this Sunday and have to wait one more week. Yes,I was bummed........

I so agree with ellen, Luvmyboyz:  Bootcamp is like no other.  Some may try to equate it to a child leaving for college...but those ladies who have experienced both will tell you it is not the same.  The loss of contact and the fact that another "entity" is controlling your loved one is hard to get used to.  I remember my son when there telling me it was like "prison" and to please realize I was his contact to the 'outside' world in addition to contact he had through letters he received from others.

"A" School is a different ballgame and you are back in contact with them!  I remember my son telling me he loved his A School experience....more like a college experience, although much stricter!  :-)

Please give your daughter in law a hug for us and tell her she will get through this.  He is safe, he is learning to be a sailor, your pride and her pride for him at PIR will "erase" what you are feeling now.  Hugs to you too!  Mom's hearts are very sensitive and "forever" with our children!
