N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

mariana:  Yes, you are in the correct group, as ellen said.  We think the divisions in this group will be:

195-204, 928

Waiting for RTC to confirm.  There would only be one Div 204.

Mike:  Glad that you got your hotel reservations!  I recommend that to all on here since it is a holiday weekend.  For those with sailors staying in GL for A School, that means you get an extra day with them!  :-)  For those flying out, it is also possible you will have an extra day, since they possibly would fly out on Sunday if flights are hard to get on Saturday.  So try and book through the long weekend!

Your N4Moms veteran team has stayed at Residence Inn and Navy Lodge.  We recommend both of them--Navy Lodge has very reasonable rates.  No shuttle service, but Sarge will run his shuttle from there if you need shuttle service.  You will book at Navy Lodge in your SR's name.

Residence (where Betsy and I stayed for our sons' PIRs) is great for larger groups since they have 2 bdrm 2 bth units, full kitchens.  They also have studios, also with full kitchen.  A bit more pricey than Navy Lodge, but close to Sarge's MeetandGreet and has PIR shuttle.

Remember, there is a water park nearby which may make hotels in the area fill up for that weekend.  Don't wait....make a hotel reservation now!  I actually found Residence by "googling" Great Lakes hotels.....there are a good number of hotels in the area but they will book quickly.

Be sure to ask your hotel for the Navy graduation rate (call the hotel directly).

diannep and all the other posts I have been reading: You have helped me a lot. My wife and I are like all of you. We miss our son so much more than we thought we would, we are very proud of him, are anxious to hear from him and, of course, are counting the days until we see him again. Thanks for the heads up that this PIR will be at the start of a holiday weekend and that hotel rooms are going fast. To that end, we have made reservations at the Courtyard Inn. It was a little pricey for us but I wanted to be sure we would have a room. Anyway, we are all in the same "boat" and I am also looking forward to meeting some of you at Sarge's Meet and Greet, which we hope to attend. I will today be waiting for the mail to see if my sons' form letter arrives. I have been writing daily, just need an address to send it to. God bless you all.

I have been checking the navy boot camp upcoming graduation dates and this is the only way I know my husband's PIR date is sooner than expected! I only know the address I can write him to and his division, which is 204. My question is, are there any divisions at BC with the same DIV number as his? I want to make absolute sure that May 24 is his PIR date. I have received nothing expect the "Kid in Box."

Comment by diannep on April 10, 2013 at 7:48am

Cbrown:  It depends on when they arrived.  It is usually the 2nd Sunday after they arrive for most of them.  Some are in processing days longer than others.  For those who arrive first, it is possible that it would be the 3rd Sunday, but not likely.  Where did you read that it was the 3rd Sunday?

Comment by Motherof3sons on April 10, 2013 at 7:37am
Good morning!! it is my understanding that they will noy be able to write until the 3 rd Sunday in boot camp.I hope I'm wrong, but i read it on this website. I am so anxious to hear from my son!

Good Morning!

Usually when they get their first mail delivery on a Sunday, then they can write too.  Mail goes out on Monday.  So just maybe letters for you all this week!

Once they get the Sunday delivery, they will receive mail M-F after that....but usually can only write on Sundays, mail out Mondays...at least, for a while.

Comment by maryanne on April 10, 2013 at 6:35am

Good morning everyone! I may be dreaming but if our recruits had a chance for mail this past Sunday just maybe they got to write as well..........I will be checking my mailbox tonight as soon as I pull in the driveway.........6 more weeks........I hope and pray they are all doing well........So very proud.............

Comment by diannep on April 9, 2013 at 9:24pm

I should explain that the shuttle service is composed of taxis operating as shuttles that morning....you usually sign up for the time you want to leave when you check into your hotel.  Ramada happens to have their own shuttle van.
