~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

AnnLou:  That is always the hardest part for everyone on here...hard for the SRs  too.  But just remember that when they are in A School after bootcamp, communication is established again and it is GOOD!  Now, when they deploy....hmmm....but even then, there is some contact!  So better days are coming!

Welcome to the new members here!  Glad you found us!T

Tallblueks:  They can leave at any time on Saturday, from about 6 a.m. until early evening.  But they are all bussed to the airports early that morning.  You can meet them there, get an airlines gate pass, and wait until their plane leaves with them.  Your sailor will know flight schedules by PIR day.

My husband accidentally broke the lacrosse goal last weekend and you would had thought he had hit me in the gut! I know that my son would have never probably have used it again but it was a part of who he was! Now onto a new journey, change is hard for all involved:)

It is such an emotional time. I knew I would miss my son but I didn't realize

how much.  Not being able to communicate is the hardest part. I am constantly in tears.

not yet, working out logistics with my folks who will be driving up from Florida. I'm coming from Kansas City via Southwest. Will make my reservation this week while their sale is going on. deadline is Thursday.

re: letters - advise family to keep the envelope clean and the contents just paper. nothing that will draw undue attention, might cause them extra work or taunting.

Youngeston, i took a picture of the envelope and sent it to all my family! Let the letters begin!

Hi Tallblueks - my son will also be leaving for Pensacola on Saturday.

Did you make your travel arrangements yet?

hi, AnnLou55 and Colleen - my son is also in Ship 2 Div 928. I am looking forward to PIR. So exciting for them. I too am wondering the time of day when they will leave on Sat? My son is going to Pensacola. already told family that is coming with me, that I will be going to the airport to visit with him for as long as I can.

AnnLou55 I will look into that it might work! We have 4 people flying so it would save me alot of money. You might want to join the 900 div on here too.

My son left for boot camp on Easter, April 1st. I am wondering if the P-days count for the 8 weeks of boot camp. If that is the case, his PIR would be May 24th. If, however, the P-week does not count and his 8 weeks start with the 1st week of training, then his PIR would probably be May 31st. Can anyone tell me which way this is?

Comment by Luvmyboyz on April 9, 2013 at 12:22pm

My heart sunk to the pit of my stomach Saturday after I realized I missed my son's call by 2 minutes.  He did leave me a voicemail saying he believes he will get to call next weekend and to keep my phone close at all times because he was unsure of a time.  He is on Ship 14 Div 197 and I am missing him but so very proud!
