N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

So happy to hear that so many got phone calls! I'm a bit bummed that I didn't get one since its the same ship/division. Maybe next week.

heartsurgnurse:  Share or vent on here anytime you like during this journey.  These ladies are all here for you...and you for them!  They are the only ones who can really understand the emotions going on here.

So ... you have friends here at any time!  :-)

Been such a good weekend. Got an unexpected call from my son and he sounded very upbeat and positive. Told me his days were long but going by fast, lots of marching & PT, also lots of yelling but that overall its getting easier with each passing day. It's nice to have a place like this to get support if I need it. I've relocated to OR from OK and don't know anyone really outside of work. Many of my coworkers are very anti-military, I just keep most things to myself. But my job as a mom is to support my son, not be concerned what other people think.

Thanks Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons for that information.

I love how we try to take care of each other on this website!!  This is such an emotional rollercoaster that we moms are on.  I would know so much less if I had not joined Navy4Moms!!  And somehow the learning is comforting in a way.  But ultimately, we have to just trust the Lord to take care of our sons and daughters and us!

mindshaper I think it is a great idea to stay that extra day just in case :)

Something everyone needs to be aware of. You will need current photo ID not only to get into PIR but also if you plan to fly. Check your ID and make sure it isn't about to expire. There was a mom for this past weeks PIR who didn't know her license had expired and she got to the airport and could not fly with her ID. She had to leave the airport and go to DMV, renew her license and take the paper copy along with her old ID back to the airport and it cost her quite a bit of money to change her flights to later that day. It was a huge mess so don't take that chance.

Good Morning All!

mindshaper:  We stayed at Residence and enjoyed it.  Convenient, PIR shuttle, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet (although Sarge didn't have his MeetandGreet back when my son graduated).  Hope that other room opens up for you!  By the way, they are pet friendly too for those driving and wishing to bring pets!  :-)

Just called Marriott Residence Inn. They had one room left at the Navy Graduation  Rate. We need two. The difference is about $40.00 per night. The gal did say to call again to see if more rooms open up at the Navy Graduation Rate. I also decided to stay until Sunday morning. It seems some leave for A school on Sunday. Most go Saturday, but I didn't want to take a chance.
