N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi! My son also left for GL 4/2 and am waiting for the box and letter to arrive. I got my time-off request okayed for 5/31 and hope I don't have to change the dates and ask my boss for the week before but know its possible. I'm flying in for PIR and want to book my flight soon. He's going to be training as a hospital corpsman after BC. I look forward to getting to meet some of you in person next month :-)

Well, the letter arrived and my son is actually in a PUSH division because he is graduating 5/24/13.  So I will move over to the site for that graduation date and wish everyone good luck on this one!  Bye.

My son arrived GL 4/2 and will train as a hospital corpsman. Any other parents here for Ship 09 Div 206? We live in NC and will be making the trip fo PIR 5/31.

MomThatLovesHerSon, my letter was postmarked 4/8/13 and got it today. If you live a great ways away it could take longer.

Comment by MomThatLovesHerSon on April 11, 2013 at 11:43pm

HaydensMom, I have not gotten the form letter yet.  I am just guessing that my son's PIR is 5/31/13, so I joined this group.
