N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

HaydensMom, when did your son arrive at GL?  Mine arrived 4/2/13.

DsMom, my son arrived at GL 4/2 also, so there is a chance that he is in the same division as your son!!

Julie73,

My son also is flying out to A school so I already made a hotel reservation, checking in on Thu 5/30 and checking out on Sun 6/2.  I decided to stay Sat just in case he doesn't fly out until Sun 6/2.

For those who just "arrived" on this page, please look under the MEMBERS photo box up top at the PAGES section for lots of info!  More will be posted as bootcamp goes along!

Hi momthatlovesherson, thank you. He arrived at GL 4/2. We do live close to GL so we get the mail pretty quick. Fingers are crossed you get it soon:)

andchico:  Just know that they cannot write you letters until after they have been there for about 2 weeks.  The first letters will usually be mailed out on a Monday.  They also have their mail held from them for this same time until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer can be trained.  They usually receive their first mail and can write a letter on the same day (usually a Sunday).  After that, mail is delivered to them M-F.

DsMom:  So sorry about the death in your family....

Comment by diannep on April 11, 2013 at 11:30pm

Welcome to the group to the new ladies here!

Julie, They will have until 8 or 9 pm Friday after PIR with you.  They have to be back at RTC then.  You can visit at the airport with him the next day (bussed early in the morning).  Just know that sometimes they don't leave until Sunday if flights are hard to get on Saturday.  So it is better for you to book your return on Sunday if you are able to....just in case.  Don't want to miss time with your new sailor!

DsMom, I'm sorry for your loss.  I'm glad you know your son's ship/div.  Maybe my form letter will come tomorrow.  what day did your son ship to boot camp?
