N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

nancynature:  To add to what ellen said, I would give a call to the Public Affairs Office and explain your situation re: crutches and need for the wheelchair.  See what they say.  847 688 2405

So sorry about your knee!  I have had knee problems myself...no fun!  But you will get wheeled into PIR Hall by a nice sailor and wheeled right back out again when done!  :-)

nancynature, I don't know about dropping off, but I would assume they would allow it as they are very accommodating. When you get to the gate to, ask the "guard" there what you can do. They may allow you to park closer, but not in the handicap parking.

Diannep - Catmom suggested I ask you about wheelchair availabilty. I injured my knee bad enough that I am on crutches. I was tinking of using a wheelchair to get around on the base to get to PIR. I do know that they have wheelchairs available with Sailors to help which is awesome. My question now is - we are driving so without having a handicap sign how do I get to the wheelchairs? Can my husband drop me off someplace close and then park (does that mean he has to go around and get back in line?) or is there a way to get a handicap sign from the RTC? If we park in the regular guest parking that we are told to park at, do you know how far of a walk it would be to the area where the wheelchairs are? Aagh! So many questions...
