For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son made sure to warn me tonight that someone will have watch Friday, and if its him, he won't be able to leave with us. He mentioned some other things that I wont post, but its not a bad idea to be prepared for this in case one of our Sailors has this duty after PIR.

Comment by nickibink on May 23, 2013 at 7:12pm: I too got my "I'm a SAILOR!" call this evening! I am so happy that 205/206 passed!! My son said he actually had fun last night, even though he was tired. He had a Mt Dew and was about to eat when our call ended. So nice to talk to a HAPPY young man! One week to go!

Comment by diannep on May 23, 2013 at 7:10pm: No worries about any SRs who did not pass BattleStations. They will do it again and pass. They always do! So those calls will come!

In each division, there are SRs asmoed (setback) or discharged from a group. So their numbers go down as bootcamp progresses. Then...they "pick up" some SRs from previous PIR groups who were asmoed and are now resuming training (this happened to my son...asmoed for a week). They usually graduate with an average of 65-75 sailors, give or take some. They start with around 88-90 on average.

Comment by diannep on May 23, 2013 at 7:07pm: NVYDad: The highest they can get promoted while in bootcamp is to E-3. Not sure all involved with these promotions though.

Calls can go on for another 90 minutes or so for 205/206. They will get to "hit their racks" 2 hrs early tonight...at 8 pm! After being awake since very early YESTERDAY morning, I'm sure they are all ready!

Congrats to the new sailors of 205/206!

Comment by mindshaper87 on May 23, 2013 at 7:00pm: Just got off the phone..I have a SAILOR!!! He said all of 206 who went into BS21 passed; however, he did say they were down in numbers from when they started in April. Maybe that is what the other sailor meant of FB by 10 not passing.
