Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

You're very welcome, MomThatLovesHerSon, I can get very long-winded going down memory lane!!
Correction:
I meant Thank You CatMom509 for the long "informative" post...........
Thank you CatMom509 for that long information post about meeting our sailors at the airport.
Thanks you diannep for the link about what to wear to PIR.
I-AM-SO-EXCITED-ABOUT-PIR!! (sorry for the all caps!)
I must confess that I am afraid to print my gate pass. I don't want to jinx anything. Crazy, I know.
Hayden'sMom: We have been told that they are pretty strict about only allowing in those on the list. However, I would try and see if she could take the father-in-law's spot. Even retired military have to be be on the list (they used to be able to attend and not be on a list). In the past, they have allowed substitutions for those on the list, but in January, they changed that. You may want to call the Public Affairs Office and ask to be sure. Be sure to tell them she has military ID just in case. 847 688 2405
Hayden's Mom 12 207- I'm not sure, maybe. I would let your SR know ASAP.
Please Help..My mother-in-law is not going to be able to make the trip after falling ill on Mother's Day. Can my mom who was traveling with us now be able to take the opening at PIR left by my father-in-law who will not be going either. Saddens me to think she will now sit in a hotel alone with an unused seat sitting empty at PIR.She is a Navy Retired widow and has a current ID which can get her onto the base, but not into the ceremony..could she stay somewhere close by on base?
annitad04 You bet the candle is lit they prayers are being said I have a few Guardian Angels too Everything seems to be falling into place
Be Brave and Be Strong
Everyone should print the gate pass if possible. If you take a shuttle to PIR, you don't need it (but I confess...I had one in my purse just in case!) but you will need it to drive onto base. You will need the password from your form letter. Hope all kept that in a safe place!
