N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome, NVYDAD!  We love having the dads on here and have had a few in the past groups!

The reason that we post more here than the men do on the NavyDads site  is because we are females and we never STOP TALKING!  :-)  We are happy you found us.  Please ask any questions on here.  We are glad to help!

Yes, BattleStations is their final test.  There is a discussion above that explains it...in the Discussion Forum.  12 hr overnight drill....then a capping ceremony where they trade those RECRUIT caps for their NAVY caps.  A happy but emotional time for them!  And, yes, then you should receive your "I'm a Sailor" call!  I have some BattleStations dates for this group, so if you would like to know when to expect your call, please friend request me with your division number.  We are not allowed to post the dates here on the site but can private message them.

annitad:  Photo IDs for all guests or birth certificate/social security card (either)...gate passes if you plan to drive on base (available for download on the RTC page)  Yes, they can have their phones/laptops in A School.  You can give them these either at the airport when they fly out...or....after they have moved over to GL A School base and have had their first Liberty time with you.

@Lala Ribbon - anything specific that we might not normally take that we would need for the trip?  I know I have to take my 9 year old's birth certificate, which I need to pack.  And want to clarify that once they are in "A" School, they can have their phones?

Hello Moms! I hope you all don't mind a DAD joining your discussions...I have been following this group for weeks now and  should have joined sooner; the navyfordads.com group just don't seem to post much (not sure why)...anyway, our son is also on schedule to graduate 5/31 - I commend you all for your involvement and use of these communication tools like this navyformoms site; I think its great! We too were anxious, but finally received a letter yesterday saying all is well; wow what a relief when those letters come in! In his letter he indicated that the already went through the live fire and firefighting exercises - he too sounds very excited. I read that when they pass their Battleship exercise that we all may get a call - which can be an emotional one since it will validate them becoming official Sailors. Can't wait to see him.

Good morning everyone, just two more weeks!!!! Can you believe it? It's almost time to pack. I hope you made a list so you don't forget anything :)

I, too received a letter and it's amazing the change I see in my son.  He misses us and now appreciates what he had here, but very excited about graduating in 2 weeks.  I can feel the excitement from you all as well as having my own.  So close now!!  Happy Friday all!

I received a letter and he sounds good. Never a big writer but he says he is doing good and that he hopes all of our Mother's Day went well because he knows all of us moms are home while they are there. They all know we talk on here. Lol.... How funny!!!! My SR is on ship 13. Anyone else gets any more news from that ship? Would love to hear what they are saying as well
Comment by Krow's Mom on May 16, 2013 at 11:20pm

It's official. I just booked my SR's twin's flight so that he can be at his brother's PIR with me. We can't wait.
