N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

donna93,

Sending healing wishes your way and keeping your SR close in my thoughts..whatever happens I wish you the best going forward. So glad you felt comfortable enough to share..we are all in this together..the joy and the setbacks. Really that is how life works and hopefully his days ahead will get better and he can look towards A school where life is full of new opportunities. Best of luck and hang in there Mom!

I haven't posted anything in several weeks but have been following everyone's posts.  My son injured his back almost 3 weeks ago.  He has been getting physical therapy and put on "light duty".  His letters are so down, said he is tired of hurting and so discouraged.  Can't even imagine--he has never complained very long about being hurt.  Still waiting to see if going to medical discharge or send him back 2 weeks.  I want to be looking forward to his graduation but still in limbo about what they are going to do.  If he is sent back, I think he can still become a sailor but will not be able to participate in PIR.  I told him that would still be OK.  Not to get stressed out.  Of course, he doesn't want to be sent back.  Sorry such a long post but I have the need to vent.  So happy for all the other SR's that are on schedule and so wishing that mine was also.  I guess since he has not been separated from his Division that maybe he will stay.  Only guessing, got a letter last week but haven't talked to him in 2 weeks.  Hope everyone has a good day and I get good news soon.

For those that have sailors on the USS Marvin Shields (ship-13).  I posted the entire history of the Marvin Shields in the discussion area above.  (actually I posted about some other ships too that I have completed)....

If nothing else, please watch this video were you can actually watch the presentation of the Medal of Honor by President Johnson to Mrs. Shields and their 2 1/2 year old daughter, Barbara. It's kind of moving. Look at video starting at 12:45. It's cool, but sad....

Had surgery last Friday, so I've been out of the loop.  Didn't receive a call this weekend either :( but had received his letter last Thursday and he sounded so much better than the one the week before.  24 Days!

Comment by diannep on May 7, 2013 at 8:40am

Best way to keep up with your SR's week/day of training is to ask in a phone call what day week/day they are on then and write it on your calendar...or ask that they put week/day on the next letter they write.  Remember, they do not train on weekends or holidays.  They are on "hold" during these times.

There are 6 actual training weeks with BattleStations happening on 6-5 (week 6, day 5).

Good Morning !

Here is a day by day schedule. They tricky part is figuring out which day your SR is on!
