N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Everyone should read this story. A recruit at boot camp saved a sailor's life! How awesome is that? It would be amazing to be able to find his family in one of our PIR groups :) A Great BIG Bravo Zulu to him for a job well done!!!

MomThatLovesHerSon, About that dagum float test...LOL That is the part of the swim test that many have an issue with, including my son when he was there. A lot of the recruits have a hard time floating (especially the males) "no fat to float". Generally lifting their head out of the water cause their lower body to sink, and then they exert too much energy to get back to the float position. He will be given every opportunity available to and help to "get it".

Like diannep said he has plenty of time to pass this before even thinking about getting moved to FIT. Those that are progressing and improving will be given up to the very last minute to pass, sometimes even up to the morning of BS. The RDCs really do want everyone to succeed.

If a SR is removed from their division earlier during bootcamp for certain reasons, they can usually join another division later at the same point in training that they left originally, in most cases.  Some are made to start over....my son was actually setback a week when he was there, removed on training week/day 3-2, and then put back in another PIR group/division that was at that same point in training.

But this is not true when they have not passed their final tests by their BattleStations dates.  In that case, they will have to get it done before their PIR date or they don't have one.

Hmmm....not sure on the wisdom teeth date....they try to do those during processing days if possible, but probably can't do all.  But no worries....they get some light duty and will be able to make up their training---so they won't be setback for this.  They will stay with their division.
