N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Looks like it was a good night for some of our SR's and their families. :)

On top of my letter, I got another phone call! :) He sounds so good! Very excited and happy! Just seeing his handwriting and hearing his voice makes me feel much better. He told me about the hit and he's not too worried about it. He called his Dad too, and this time he didn't miss the call.

Prayers of healing to all of our SR's that are experiencing injuries, wisdom teeth surgeries, homesickness and anxiety.  This isn't an easy experience for any of us and my heart goes out to all of you that are worrying about your SR.

I sent my son a picture of my father when he was stationed in Vietnam.  Its a small snapshot of him with a white metallic-looking Christmas tree in front of him. The main thing I wanted him to see was that my Dad is smiling. My SR is part of our family's military history and I am so proud of him!

Life for them is hard, but they need to know that happiness can still be found and that in the end, it really is worth it!  Those of us left at home need to remember that too.  ((hugs)) To all that are having a difficult night!

Well, I got a letter from my son today and he told me about hurting his back, they had it x-rayed and now he is having physical therapy and put on light duty.  Said they would make a decision first part of next week as to whether he could go on with training, get pushed back or get a medical discharge.  I get home from the grocery store and my husband tells me he just got off the phone with our son ( hate I didn't get to talk to him ) and that his back is no better but no worse and guess they will make decision next week.  He said everything else was getting better.  Sure hope he gets back on track.  He really wants this and hate that he is almost half way through and this happens.

Oh Jana I am so happy for you! My son called as well..I was fully expecting a letter and was disappointed when there wasn't one..I kept saying, "I thought sure I would hear from him." Then my phone rang..looked at that area code and started  doing the happy dance! Our conversation was much like yours Jana..passed all PT's and they even got a flag for academics. My heart is beating Red, White and Blue Pride! I just know that our positive thoughts reach them and help them to push themselves..I will sleep a little easier tonight!

nickiblink - A "hit" is basically a bad mark :-(

If it was on the way back it could have been a "street hit". During BC there are other personnel watching the Divisions as well  as the RDC's (their instructors for their classroom time as well) and they can give them a "hit". F'rinstance when they have compartment inspection the RDC's are a part of that as well and so they are inspected by other personnel. My sons Division took a street hit for calling cadence to soon. Ummm...it was one of the RDC's fault. Shhhh....He felt bad!

There are many reasons to issue a street hit. They can get personal hits as well.

Try not to worry about them...your SR's can do that :-)
