N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

MomThatLovesHerSon,  first off--great screen name!  I will second everything that Hayden's Mom has said.  Hang in there.  We all miss our kids.  I think this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.  I knew someday my children would leave, but I never expected one of them to leave at 19, and go so far away, where I couldn't at least call or text him.  I thought I at least had until he was out of college.  But life throws unexpected curves at us.  Remember though the Lord will never put you through more than you can bear.  He gives you strength to get through those trials and bumps in the road.  I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers your way.  Stay connected here.  We all will help you through.

Great post, HaydensMom. I so agree!  Hang in there, ladies!  It gets better!  :-)

Good Morning!

MomThatLovesHerSon..Just remember when your son reads your letters, he hears your voice. This will keep him focused and ready to face another day closer to PIR..getting down to 36 days! They have been very busy with little time for writing. I have received 1 letter and my son apologized for it being short and a bit messy (sitting on the floor writing it). Their main focus right now is to learn to work as a team..our main focus is to keep those letters going so that they can hear mom cheering them on..hope this helps :)

I've been writing my son everyday since I got the form letter on Mon. 4/15/13 except I missed Sat. 4/20/13.  I am very anxious to receive a letter from him.

GingerMom- you can only do what you can do! As long as you keep writing and in contact with your daughter to let her know you support her it will be ok! maybe arrange for her to pick-up a care package at PIR? Order some PIR ribbons and let her know you'll be wearing them in her honor that day! Just let her know you'll be saving up for after A school when you  might be able to spend some real time with her!

GingerMom:  Many cannot make it to PIR.  We totally understand.  But be sure to go up above on your division discussion and see if any of those wonderful ladies can snap a picture of her for you, and send it to you.  You can private message your info to the ladies who offer to help!

Momwhoisproud:  Check out ACE and ENTERPRISE.  You might want to see if you can get an ENTERPRISE location away from the airport to save a bit of money (they come pick you up and return you to the airport).  Some who are flying on Southwest have said that they got a discount with a car rental through the airlines.

first- I want to thank all of you for putting all your thoughts out here. I have cried and laughed with you all. It has helped get through this.

second- we are having a real hard time coming up with $1000 for 6 hrs with our daughter before she takes off for A school. Anyone else feeling like this and feeling guilty for not making plans to come for graduation? We miss her terribly but know she is in a good place. We got our first call but they only let us talk 5min at most! so sad!

Has anyone rented a car for that weekend yet?  I was wondering what the best is.  I am flying in to Midway.  Hotwire has a good rate but the rate is non-refundable and no changes so I don't think I want to go that way.  Any suggestions?
