N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you so much Ellen0502 :)

I do have a question, When he sent his form letter his left off part of the address. I went online here and found the right address. Now, the letter I got today had more info on it . Which should I use?

Thanks ahead of time for any advice

DSMom. Hang in there!! It is not uncommon for the first letter to be very sad to read. Not doing well, home sick, may have the Ricky Crud, tired etc. This can change from hour to hour, day to day at this point, it is very normal. Keep encouraging him to stay strong and let him know it is only a couple more weeks and things will start to turn around.

Just to let you know, sending a letter overnight won't necessarily get it to your son any faster, and it may draw additional attention to him. That is probably not what he wants.

Sending a hug your way, it will most likely get better for both of you!

Good afternoon moms! My older son just woke me up with a letter from my SR. It was heartbreaking. He said he isn't doing well. And asked me to overnight him a letter. I just put my first 2 in the mail. I am writing him tonight while I am at work so I can overnight tomorrow. I didn't get a call from him so this is my first contact. I'm so sad for him. I hope more moms get letters soon!

Hello everyone,
My boyfriend is in Ship 12 DIV 208. His family and I just booked our flight there, Spirit has an amazing deal until tonight, prices went down from $120.00 there and $120.00 back from Florida, to $60.00 there and $60.00 back! If anyone is still looking for plane tickets just thought I should share that with you guys (:

Hey there,

I have to admit, I too was nervous, and viewed the videos and that helped me as well. I realize now that our son is in good hands, and knowing him, and his tenacity to achieve, he too will not give up, do what it takes to meet the goal.
