N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

sunny2372:  You're dating yourself with that song  :-)  ...and now you have the melody stuck in my head!  HAA!

xcmomof2:  The DVD is actually a PIR DVD which either your SR can order (write and ask him/her to)....or....you can order after PIR in the NEX.  The division tshirts are in "transition" right now.  These are the shirts that the SRs design themselves, but they just changed supplier of the shirts and we aren't sure who the supplier is yet.  Again, if you want these, you can ask your SRs to order them for you since they will have a chance to do that. Stay tuned as we will post the info when we receive it for those wanting to order the shirts themselves.

The challenge coins can be ordered on Ebay.  Craig, one of our other N4M veterans and a retired sailor himself, may drop in here with more info on the coins.

Hi, new mom here.  I received my daughter’s belongings and form letter.  She is Ship 14 Div 211 PIR 5/31/13.

MomThatLovesHerSon:  The division discussions will be added soon.  The "Pages" section is already up and running, under the MEMBERS photo box up top.

Diannaron:  I'm surprised that the recruiter said that about keeping the cell?  Almost sounds like he is former military from another branch as I have heard that other branches can keep their cells.  Yes, they will need phone cards.  You can mail them these or they can purchase them there at the NEX.  Mailing them will be more convenient for them and save them money!  Be sure to activate them before mailing to save them time.

Welcome to the new members of this group!

Diannaron, I am new too, I sent my son with a calling card.  I think that would be fine to mail him one now, but hopefully a veteran member will confirm that.

Hi all. We just received our form letter and my son's belongings. He is ship 14 div 212. PIR 5/31/13. A school at great lakes too. We are new to all of this.... Thankful we found this website. Our recruiter had said he could take his cell phone to be used on just Sundays. It was returned in his box so I guess I should mail him a calling card?

Group "veteran members", I have a question.  When will Discussions or Pages be added to this group for the individual ships/divisions?  Or are those things that we create ourselves?

Comment by MomThatLovesHerSon on April 15, 2013 at 10:01pm

mine is Charleston
