N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Anyone have Ship 12 DIV 208?

Comment by Hayden's Mom 12 207 on April 15, 2013 at 6:16pm

My son has several friends from our gym who ran the Boston Marathon today..they have all checked in and are all doing fine. The city is literally shut down, so they don't know when they will be getting home.Honestly..it's so troubling because these athletes were running to raise money for Sandy Hook..God when will it ever end!

Comment by LadyMAVA on April 15, 2013 at 5:55pm

My husband said that when he went through they were told of big world events that happened.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on April 15, 2013 at 5:51pm

Louise, they may or may not be informed but they probably will be told. Recruits who have family in that area may get to call to check on family. I am not sure but we have seen that happen with other tragic events.

Momwhoisproud, They don't have a waiting area for those not on the list. They ask that they remain at the hotel until PIR is over and the Sailor can go to see them.

Comment by Momwhoisproud on April 15, 2013 at 5:38pm

I know I can probably find this somewhere but I though I would ask....for people who are not on the access list can they go on base and what do they do while the ceremony is going on?

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on April 15, 2013 at 5:25pm

I hope so too Dianne.

Comment by diannep on April 15, 2013 at 5:22pm

AMEN, Lala.  SO disgusting.  So glad that your family members are ok.  I had heard that a man who ran the race was looking for his wife at the finish line, because she is always there each year and he couldn't find her.  I sure hope that he has by now and she is ok.  I just can't imagine the horror that those people experienced.

God Bless the ones who, without regard for their own lives re: more bombs possibly in the area, headed into the damaged area to pull debris off of injured people, some men ripping off their shirts--  I assume to act as tourniquets.  They are "heroes" in my book!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on April 15, 2013 at 5:18pm

Thoughts and prayers for all those in Boston affected by these bombings. So sad that our country has been attacked again. No news who did this but whoever they are from some other country or our own I hope they are caught very soon. There is a person of interest in custody. They don't know yet if it is a victim or perpetrator. We have heard from our family members who live there and they are fine. Some of them can't get home but at least they are okay. I hope all of your families in that area are okay as well <3
