~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Christiansmom, my son is also in 931. I hope they can learn to work together and do what needs to done. I can only imagine how hard it was to talk to her knowing she is struggling. You did a great encouraging her though. Maybe go onto pintrest and find some encourage words and print up a page of them to mail to her. I try and do that as well as a few funny ones. Hugs!!!!

nessaC27 I hope the extraction goes well and he's not SIQ for too long!

Glad to hear the other comments about wisdom teeth!  Hers were fine (so I thought) but she had heard that they would be pulled in boot camp anyway. One less thing to worry about later down the road!

My daughter called again today (doing paperwork).she still sounds very emotional and homesick..says 931 is having problems with behavior and keeps getting IT..very hard phone calls.. keeping her encouraged is tough...

Good Morning!

The wisdom teeth coming out is not an issue for them regarding training. They remove hundreds of them. :) They generally schedule them to come out when the training is nothing they can't miss and make up easily.

As of the letter I received yesterday, they haven't taken my sons wisdom teeth out yet either. His are also sideways, and started to come through his gums above his molars about 3 was prior to leaving. He said he will only get 2-3 days of SIQ to recover. Hope it's enough :( I didn't even think about falling behind on things :(

I had gotten a letter on Monday and Tuesday, I live in Texas so I was surprised it had reached me so fast. And @MamaC my hunny is going to be SIQ because one of the wisdom teeth he's gonna have pulled out (or already did, sometime this week) well, the tooth is growing sideways! So the extraction is going to be more extensive. He was really worried about missing things and having to catch up.

Good morning Momma's GF's wives' and all!

Good Morning!  It's nice to see the form letters starting to come in!  Hope many more come in today.

For those starting to make travel arrangements, consider Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI (45 min to GL) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).  No change fee if your SR is delayed in training (mine was!)....and 2 bags check for free.

Hotels recommended by others on this site are:

Navy Lodge (book in SR's name if you do not have your own military ID).  About a mile from RTC, good rates.

Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express.....all close together, near Sarge's MeetandGreet held for you the night before PIR, about 4-5 miles from RTC.  Be sure to call the hotel direct and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.
