Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 227 and 228
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Thanks for putting this together. I think that the Ship for Division 227 should be Ship 12. My son is in this division and when I spoke with him on Sunday night, he said that Division 227 was originally in Ship 9, but they were moved to Ship 12. I am going to go onto the main page and see if anyone else heard this.
He said that 1-1 day would be Wednesday, so that would have been yesterday, so today would be 1-2 day.
It is not unusual for the recruits to change ships in BC, and there can be several reasons for it. One of the other ships just went through some major renovation, repairs etc, and for several weeks the recruits were started in that ship and a couple weeks later moved to another. :)
Just let me know if the ship has changed and I will change the title of this group.
I contacted the Public Affairs Office. They told me that Division 227 was moved to Ship 12. I am guessing that 228 was moved as well. This is the address I found on the navy mil website and is where I will be (and have been) sending my son's letters:
Ship 12/Division 227; Recruit Training Command; 3515 Sailor Drive; Great Lakes, ILL 60088-3515
Thanks!
My son is in division 228. The only form of communication I've received so far is the form letter and it shows ship 09. Is there a reason you think that 228 was moved to another ship?
My son is also in division 228. He did in fact contacted me on Mother's Day and said he has moved from Ship 09 to Ship 12. But as of today, I have not heard from him as we were not able to attend his PIR graduation and has not heard from him since then. We called PAO and they indicated that due to the HIPAA laws, we were not access any information. The beginning my son did tell me that he had to retake his swim test and that he called on Mother's Day and told me he passed. Then he called a week prior to PIR scheduled for 061413 and stated that he needed the names for access visitors to attend. My husband and I could not attend due to emergency situations. But was planning to go to Florida to get a chance to see him while he is in A school. When we contacted PAO, they said my son was still in Great Lakes, but can't tell me why. It just makes a mother worry if you can't hear from them. But they did moved to SHIP 12.
These two divisions have moved to my favorite ship in all of the RTC, it is the one that housed my son a year ago. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, it's a secret. :)
Since the PAO did confirm that they have moved I would start sending mail to the new address, and I know that is the correct address since I sent tons of mail there a year ago. :)
Don't worry about the mail that you have sent, it will find them. The division number is what really matters at this point, and the mail room at the RTC will be aware that these two brother divisions have moved. If one brother division moves the other will too. It may take an extra day or so, but they will get their mail.
Lori - I am following up with the PAO contact to confirm that Division 228 also moved to Ship 12. I should hear back from this later today and will post my reply. (Sorry, I am on the east coast and didn't see this until this morning).
thank you for that! I just don't want to assume something and send out the new address to friends and family and it be wrong. Let me know what you hear!
