We'd be good SR's and drop and do those push-ups right along with you!  So glad to have a face to go with someone in son's div.  Your boyfriend looked like a fascinating person. I can see him and my future Nuke getting along!  I'll post when I hear more....wish mine would write "detailed letters", but I'll take the up-beat short ones we've gotten!  We're so encouraged by his letters.

Yes, don't know if fascinating is the right word for him :) but he is interesting. He is fluent in Russian and that is why he is trying to get into intell. He studied over there during college.

What I am curious about is if their div is starting to jell and the dynamics there. I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

When are you guys going up for PIR? Where are you staying? I will be there by myself & it would be nice to know someone else. His Dad & brother can't make it. With my bf being one of the older ones & I being older them him, I am probably closer to your age than I am to the other little girlfriends.

I hope they DO remain friends. NUKEdom is impressive. My SR said that your son was very smart.

Well let's hope for more letter soon. Being Sunday, they prob had time to write today.

P.S. I made reservations at the Courtyard Marriott in Waukeegan. I got a bit of a discount and they have a shuttle to graduation.
Right now we have a reservation at the Quality Inn unless we change our minds between now and then.  We're planning to drive up Wed and prob. leave Sunday.  We've never been to Chicago so we'll look around there on Thurs after we rest up from our trip.  Our daughter will be flying in on Thurs. from a mission trip in Birmingham if plans go as we think so we'll make a trip to an airport to pick her up, also.  I'm glad my SR is coming across as smart: ) - hopefully that means he's passing things he needs to!  His performance has not always matched his IQ when his motivation isn't there..... I think he's motivated now!
We have our reservations at the Ramada Waukegan.  It seems like a very nice hotel.  On Thursday night they have a "Meet and "Greet" for all the families of the Sailors.  They also provide a shuttle to graduation and they provide free breakfast.  The rates are reasonable too.  I've talked with other people who have stayed there for PIR and they were happy with everything.

Ladies,

If you are on Facebook look up 7 "like" U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command & look at the page. They post random pictures of the SR's on a weekly basis. You might see your recruit!

I got a long letter today! It took him forever to get mine. The one I got today was written May 9.

Hope everyone's mail is  exciting today!

I bet you're going to be more likely to get mail than we moms will be!  So glad you got a long one.  I'd be rather happy anything, though.  : )  So glad he finally got your mail. I felt so badly for him NOT getting it when the others did - especially when you had written!    Enjoy!
Best day ever, get ready everyone....I just received two more letters and a 30 minute phone call!!!!!  It was so great to hear his voice.  He sounds really good.  Just wanted to let you know so you can keep your phone with you at all times!!!
Hi girls. : ( I'm just heartbroken.  My SR called my cell and I didn't hear it..  To add insult to injury, he called his dad and sister and neither of them picked up either.  Dad was in a dead spot and I'm sure his sister, if she heard it in the store where she was had no idea what the number was.  He finally got me as I got into the house from the store and we had about 6 minutes left to talk.  He was so down by the time we finished talking he was crying.  I'm so sad for him.  He had been so upbeat in the 2 short letters we'd gotten.  He doesn't know all the times I was on pins and needles waiting for a call (even tho I can't carry it in my bra!  I guess i would have felt it vibrate if I had!)  Dang it!   OK, so what he said was he'd been sick on Sat and had to go to Tranquility (hospital) since they don't have sick call (or whatever the right jargon is) on the ship on Saturday.  Was getting better. Swimming is done but didn't pass his running yet.  That was about the time I thought he might have choked up a little.  I'm happy for your call, Cathy, and how well your son sounded.  Sounds like he's a great writer.  Did say he had written this weekend even tho he was under the weather, so maybe we'll hear more in the next couple of days.  No mail today.  I'm going over to the 6/17 group and see what all those reports are. He's hoping to get another 5 minute call sometime since he didn't get to talk. I couldn't understand him very well by then.  take it easy....

I'm distraught, I missed my SRs call. I was home but the phone was upstairs & had fallen under a cushion. It was the ONLY time today I didn't have it with me.  He left 3 messages but I could tell he was crying.

However,. so glad you got to talk to your SR, Cathy. Glad he is doing well.  My SR did say they all passed their written test & got a new flag to carry because of it. So if one is doing well that bodes well for all of them.

My heart goes out to you girls.  I felt the same way when he wrote that he received letters from his friends and didn't receive any from us.  It just broke my heart. The next letter I received he said they gave him my letters later that night so I felt better.  I'm sure they will get another call.  If they only knew how obsessed we are with carrying our cell phones with us everywhere we go.  The letter I received today was dated on May 11th.  I'll say my prayers for us to get another call!!  In 31 days we'll be able to kiss and hold them tight!!!
