KC'sMom:  So sorry to hear that!  Oh my gosh...let's hope there is no surgery...just lots of rest and healing.  If you think he could use some encouraging letters, please let us know.  I'm sure many on here will be happy to write to him to encourage him.  There was one SR there for 6 mos (after his own PIR, I think)...he is now a sailor.  Stories like that encourage those with shorter stays...I know he is shocked and discouraged now, but hopefully he will hang in there, heal and get through this.  And if he heals more quickly then they are expecting, then hopefully he can get back to training sooner.

Do you think we can write to him?  He will have a new address while in RCU so when you get it, maybe we can write.  You can't post it on this board, but please let us know you have it and we can get it from you through "pm".

Praying for him....and you too.

Welcome archangel's mom!  My daughter is on that same ship and division.

If you go to Recuit Training Command on facebook you can click on photos on the left hand side of the page. If those are the photos you are talking about.

Welome archangel!!

KC's mom, I am soooo sorry about your SR's foot!! I will be praying for you all!

Well, I got the call. Foot is badly broken. Might even need surgery. Cancel reservations.  He will be there all summer. My heart is aching. It really is just aching. My son is being positive saying "it could be worse". But, I know him, and I know all he wants to do is move on out of boot camp. Now he will be there at least another 10 weeks. My God, he will be there until the fall.

To KC's mom.....remember what I said about changing the PIR date?  There is a facebook page for the RTC and the mediator responded to a family member that they will ALWAYS notify via telephone if there is a change to the PIR date.  It will never be by letter.  So....until you've had the phone call, hang tight!!

I have been reading your posts. Lot of information on here to share.  I can't seem to find those photos you are talking about on facebook.  Where can I find them.  My daughter is on Ship 03 Div 209

Welcome, Marie!  Glad you jumped in and that he's on track now.  It could sure happen to any of us as we've seen in these weeks our SRs have been at BC.  So many things we never knew before  : )

Sorry if I caused a stir by mentioning the gas chamber was this week!  I guess I was assuming all had heard or read about it.  It's such a rite of passage for boot camp.  I'm sure they'll all do fine!   They've come so far since we last saw them.  I'm so proud of them all for what they are accomplishing!    - Even the ones who've gotten injured: it happened when they were striving to do their very best.  Hang in there, gals, we're getting close now!
