Thanks for the update, tysmom!  Congrats on his great scores!  I've sent dozens of letters....not every day but at least every other 2nd-3rd day.  I've sent lots of pictures and cards.  The last letter I personally received was dated May 15th; other family members have received letters since then so at least I know she's okay!  But I really, really would like a letter =/

I got a letter from my son today. He got a perfect score on PI and WTI. He has passed his second PFA.

They had completed Marlinspike and received an average score

The disappointing part of the whole thing was that not every recruit  put the extra effort needed to earn the Flags for their accomplishments and it is a team effort!

He said mail and chow are highlights of their day! Keep sending those letters!

He keeps asking about the sports stuff and I found that ESPN has info you can print out so we are sending him some of those.Especially with the NBA playoffs! You can use the back of the sheet for a personal note.

Less than three weeks left!

So, so sorry KC's mom....and Squeekerz.  I haven't received any letters lately and haven't had a single phone call.  I am hoping that no news is good news....KC's mom I was really looking forward to meeting you at PIR; hopefully there's a chance that his foot isn't as bad as they think???  He did say "may have".  I'm curious because usually if they are going to be set back they let them call home.  And he hasn't, right??  I'll be praying that it is just minor and he will heal quickly.  My heart goes out to you both.

Oh no!  I hope it's not the kind of fracture the doctor suspects!!  Weird how he didn't call you to tell you his PIR will be changed or anything.

I am totally feeling squeekers pain- I finally got a letter today dated last Tuesday. My son says it appears he may have fractured his foot. My heart sank when I read those words. I am probably the most obsessed mom out there. I cried and begged him not to leave me and now I get the letter. He knows not to be honest with me about how he is really feeling in a letter - he knows how I am and I would not be able to handle it!!  But his tone was somewhat grim- the dr told him if it is the type of fracture he suspects it might be, it is the worst kind to get and it would set him back 8-10 weeks in boot camp.  I'm absolutely heartbroken. Even if it is not broken, it will still set him back - I currently have a torn tendon in my foot and am walking with the use of crutches. Devastated.

I got a call on Friday and a letter on Saturday.  Two calls and two letters in the same week!  What a blessing!

Thank you all. :)  I haven't asked in the Ship 5 group, actually.  I think I'll do that, so thanks for asking about it.

As for his attitude?  From the way his mom made it sound, he wants to come home.  He wants to be with us all.  He wants to be able to watch his kids grow up, and doesn't think that the Navy was an appropriate choice for him.  I don't know if all his doubts has to do with how hard it has been for him, or if he really is convinced it's not the right path.  I'll continue to encourage him, but if he really will be miserable if he stays in, it would be best if he came home now if he has the chance, right?

Me, too, Squeekerz. We're praying for your SR. Hoping in the time it takes for his shins to heal, his will re-energize and be ready to soar!

o, squeekerz--that makes me sad to hear your SR's story.  i will be praying that with all the rest he is surely getting now, that he will heal quickly and be put into another division just like diannep said.

Comment by diannep on May 28, 2011 at 8:26pm
Squeekerz:  Not sure about the Ship 04 address.  Did you ask in the Ship 05 group about that?  Sounds like he is definitely on medical hold in a medical unit.  My son was asmoed during week 3 also...it worked out fine for him when he got put into another division and finished out bc.  How is your SR's attitude about everything?  I know this must be so difficult for him, and you all too.  Hoping that with rest and medical care, he will heal soon.
