I didn't get his call 'cause my phone sucks. -cries-   His mom called me after he hung up with her though, and got right through!  What is up with that?!!!!

Anyway.. apparently what happened is that his "medical issues" he wrote about in the one letter 2 weeks ago had to do with his legs.  They told him he had shin splints and had him take it easy for awhile.  When his legs started feeling fine again, they got him back into PT and all that.  Well, apparently while running, or marching, all of a sudden he heard a pop and his bone felt like it shifted.  He yelled out and they took him to medical.  They x-rayed him and said he had 2 fractures in his left leg and 3 in his right.  They actually were a bit surprised, he said.  Apparently one of his fractures was one of the worst the doctor had seen, and they said something about infection.. like one fracture was either infected or looked as though it was going to get infected. I didn't even know fractures could do that!

Well, now he's on antibiotics and pain meds, and they switched his address to Ship 04.  I know Ship 05 is the medical address.. so is Ship 04 just a different normal area?

Anyway... now we play the waiting game.  His mom said they are probably going to keep evaluating his healing and all that and decide if they should just send him home.  If he doesn't come home, he'll eventually resume at Week 3 Day 5, 'cause that's where he stopped off. :(  He hadn't even got to Week 4 yet.

My son told me that one of his superiors at his base who has been in the Navy 15 yrs just got denied re-enlistment.  Another that I'm aware of through this site who has been in 7 yrs got denied re-enlistment in her rate, even though she has all kinds of honors and promotions.  She is having to go back to school for another rate if she wants to stay in.  She is doing it because she loves the Navy and wants to re-enlist.

that is probably a good cal pianomom. My daughter has several friends who have been in for a few years and they have been told they cannot re-enlist. I feel bad for them. I was laid off from work 2 years ago and I have a degree and can't find anything without moving. And it is almost impossible to move considering my parents are here and not well and they need me, my son is a Jr in high school and doesn't want to leave, and I signed the papers on my new house 2 weeks before I got laid off. I have basically had to start my own business to be able to make ends meet along with doing some other sub-contracted work. This economy has been a real challenge. I hate to see them force anyone out of the military who is doing their job well and wants to stay.

No, absolutely not.  This is for our info only....remember, no negative news to the SRs.

Yes, pianomom:  203/204 will go through BattleStations together.

And...as far as the divisions coming together, they all manage to do that before BattleStations.  Some just take a bit longer than others!
