Wow!!  You must be so excited. I hope his legs are doing okay?  Who will pay for any follow up xrays or dr. appts??? 5 fractures sounds so painful. I hope he gets better soon. Cherry bread sounds like a great prescription!

Eeee  He leaves Great Lakes tomorrow.  I learned to make cherry bread.  He loves maraschino cherries, so I found a recipe to make just for him. :)  I practiced last night and it tasted really good. :)

No news this week... He ran his 200 yard distance. Next P.T. session he will be expected to run 400 yards. then it progresses each session until its 1200 yards and then he will have completed his phase 4 of physical therapy. Argh, can't stand the wait!

Sorry for my absence but I have been so busy!! And tomorrow I start back to school so it I may not be checking in as often, but I will always come back when I can!

Pianomom - The shower went off well, sadly my sailor couldn't Skype because her roommate left for the weekend and took the internet adaptor (that she so graciously shares) with her!  But she was able to see all the pictures on facebook.  The baby is due August 17th!

Kori says she'll be able to get leave at either Thanksgiving or Christmas.....she thinks she'll probably want Christmas.  That's quite a ways off so hopefully I'll be able to see her before then!  Her father and I are considering spending Thanksgiving with her in Chicago......it will be a unique experience for me because for as long as I have been a Mom I have ALWAYS cooked the entire meal for the family.  So perhaps a change will be good.  She is STILL waiting for her ATT school to start......she says they have plenty of classrooms but not enough teachers!  So she's spending a lot of time with friends between having to clean the barracks and pulling duty.  Can't be too bad.......=)

fa4airtran- Do you live in Atlanta??  Or thereabouts?  I am just north....near Cartersville.

KrisMom - So glad you got to spend the weekend with your Sailor!  I so wish mine was closer so I could do the same!

EVERYONE- I love this group!

Pianomom - Welcome back!  Isn't it great

Joy - I wish that she could have come home for the shower.  When is the baby due?  Will she be able to get leave then?  Thank God for the internet and pictures.  You could Skype her in to the party.  I'm sure that some of the younger ones know how to do it.  My college children do it all the time with their friends.  Not quite as good as being there, but better than being left out.

Just got back from a couple of days in GC with my Sailor!  We had a great time visiting the NEX and touring Charleston.  It was SO good to see him again.  I wish that he could have come home with us for the weekend and holiday, but his liberty only extends 75 miles until he phases up in A-school.  Still, we got to see him.

fa4airtran - I'm glad that you get to spend time with him.

Squeekerz! - Congratulations!  Post a pic of the wedding.

Meryl - Congratulations to you, too, on your new daughter-in-law!  I'm so sorry that you can't be there for the wedding.

MamaCindy - I feel the same way.  I'm hoping that a group will start when he classes up.   Maybe a smaller group like PIR instead of Bootcamp.

KC'smom - Such wonderful news about your son.  I'm praying quick healing for you, too. And yes, everyone needs to know.

fa4airtran  - Love your dog story.   I was playing with our dog today in a way my Sailor used to and wanted to say "he'll be here one day to play with you again".  I can't imagine what she must think with not having seen him in so long!  Wish I could take her to him.

Pianomom it is especially embarrasing when I go on and on about him & how much I miss him and then I always hear "oh, where is he stationed?"......... uh yeah- he's never left boot camp! Hahahaaa

why is it we think EVERYBODY should know about our kid if they are even remotely involved with a branch of the military?   hilarious
