Cayster, I can relate to what you're going through since my son is sick and grad & go too. In order to see him as much as we can we will follow him to the airport and stay with him till he flies out. He will be in Fire Control Electronics on a sub.
Dianne, I read your comments to Cayster and I really benefit from them too. Thanks.
Hello to all,
I got home from work yesterday and had a letter waiting for me from my daughter she seems to be doing a lot better she told me this week is hell week and she will be up at 4am have alot going on including inspections will be a very busy week for them all.
Happy Friday to all and a safe Memorial Day Weekend!
Cayster: Try and stay positive. No matter what time you get with your new sailor, it will be precious. For all of you! Hopefully he will have until at least Sat before flying out. Since he is sick right now, the negative thoughts come in because he doesn't feel well. Hoping he is recovered soon and back with his group...that will help alot.
It is actually Grad N Go, but I get a kick out of those who say "Grab N Go" because I know that is what all of you want to do with them! :-) and, Sunny is so right. "A" School is a totally different situation...so much better because communication is back with your new sailors. It is more like a college atmosphere. They enjoy it much more!
Hang in there...it gets better!
Cayster16... I know this falls short of having them face to face for the weekend. But at least they get to have their cell phone and lap tops, so we won't be cut off from communication as much as we have. Our son bought us skype for Christmas when he left for college 9 hrs. away, and it has really helped us to feel like he is a whole lot closer. I also read that you can go into the airport with them and sit and wait. They have to be there a few hours early and they allow you to have a pass to go down to the gate and wait with them.
My son leaves the next morning after graduation. He will prob. have to head to the airport between 3-5am whooppee! ugh
He is ship 11, div 203 going to Florida, Aviation Electronics.. so Audrey your son knows he is a grab & go? Ours wasn't certain... So they must be telling so prepare them..
