Sunnyb- my son wrote to his friend that he had to do a bunch of push-ups for putting his hat on front to back. It should be placed on the head back to front apparently!!!  Poor guy. And, my son was not athletic before he left so I can't even imagine how bad he must be feeling.

SO I'm out on the back deck this morning and I hear this loud beep beep beep! the mail lady was SO excited to bring me letters she blew the horn! A sight to see this 47yr. old women running and skipping to the mail car!

He is well, sounds up beat.. but also beat up! Said his division is still not in unity which makes for extra crazy long hard workouts. He was in extreme physical shape when he left, and is hurting, I just have to wonder how those SR's that are not used to that are doing. He wrote his brother 2 letters telling him things he didn't want mom to know! waaaat? of course brother told. Funny things that would have made me feel bad for him. One day he didn't tuck in his shirt and had to skip around the yard yelling I will not wear my shirt like a skirt..! and all the SR's had to call back "but you are!" (i'm sure he is laughing now about it) Then one day he put his pen in his mouth to use 2 hands for something and he had to hold his pen out in front of him for a half hour saying something like "my mouth is not a hand".  Oh boy! good thing I have been praying he does not take thing hard or personal. He said he is feeling better but not 100% yet, since his muscles hurt so bad, and it is stinky sweaty hot there now. I just keep writing him letters telling him how many days are left. He was excited about some kinda sub he signed up for, that he told me to look up, so I guess that is what I"m going to try to find now. He said EM & MM for second choice. ???  thoughts???

Blessings, strength and miracles to you girls and your SR's today!

Oh, Lord. that is what I love about this site. People truly do understand eachother here. It has helped me soooooo much. I was so AGAINST my son leaving me for boot camp and now I am totally okay with it. It is what it is. I have had a 360 turn around. I just look up to my son so much and he has always been smarter than me since he was little. He has been a very gifted boy. I've never had any problems with him that I know a lot of moms have with their kids. I've been so blessed and proud of him since he was born - I didn't wanna let go. But I don't feel like I'm letting go. I feel like he is getting his opportunity that he deserves to use his intelligence for the good of the Navy. It's all okay,

KC's mom, that is funny.  lol  I actually used to take my cell phone with me in the shower (in a plastic bag), so I wouldn't miss any calls from the all important 847 area code.

Audrey- we gotta give a shout out to all the nurses out there!!  hahaha, can you guess... I'm one, too!!  God love her! That was so nice. So glad your son was well taken care of. Can't get over all these medical problems everyone is having? Oh my goodness. I geuss my son's sinus infection is NOTHING compared to all the stories I'm hearing!!!

Last week I was invited for career day at the elementary school. I was doing a presentation for the 1st graders and didn't have my phone on me. It rang in the middle of my presentation on NURSING and I about knocked over 2-3 little kids to get to my phone! I couldn't believe I did that! Turns out it wasn't him.  I just always freak out when my phone rings. I have everyone I know set to a certain ring tone. If it's a number my phone doesn't recognize it rings completely different. When I hear the unusual ring, I leap over old ladies with walkers and small chidlren to get to my phone.

meryl:  Check out Southwest Airlines prices to Midway (Chicago) or Milwaukee.  Milwaukee is usually cheaper and just a few minutes further to get to GL...but an easy drive.  They offer "no change fees" and also your first 2 checked bags are free...so although sometimes they seem more expensive, you have to factor those two things in.

Angel W, the calls will start coming on the afternoon following their all night Battlestations. Sorry, can't really pinpoint an exact time, but usually they start around 1 or 2p.m. central time.
