I have been following this group for several weeks.  I look forward to reading your posts everyday when I get home.  I started to struggle when Mother's Day came and I had not heard from my daughter.  Reading your posts and knowing I was not alone, helped me make it through.  I have since had a phone call and two letters and am looking forward to graduation.  Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement.  N4M Rocks!

Squeekerz, some very wise ladies gave you some excellent advice so just hang in there and things will get better.  My son has had some rough days too but they are more than halfway through now so don't give up.  Tysmom is right.  Just keep your faith in God and leave it up to Him.  I'll be praying for you and your guy.

Hey miss squeekerz,..  I really do agree with the ladies, to keep continuing to encourage your man. And the words Joy wrote about her son saying he was glad he continued in the Army because of personal pride and sense of accomplishment is a big issue for a man. As a counselor one thing I have learned about men is, they are made to be providers, hunters, men who feed and take care of their family. It is very hard for a man when he looses his job because his sense of purpose and success seems lost. They get very depressed when they feel like they are failing. I think it is important that he knows, that no matter how things go for him, that you were supporting him and telling him he is amazing every step of the way. Trust me, that is what he is longing to hear from you... "you can do it, I believe in you". If those are your words to him, he will rise up to met them!
As for the fear and emotional issues.. those things will be there no matter what direction you go, navy or not. There are always bills, worries, problems etc..  Just keep in mind, that as we grow older we being to learn that those fears, worries and emotions are things that you do not have to give into. We all learn and become more mature in our thinking, that we do not have to bow to those thoughts and feelings. We can choose to be strong and not give into those thoughts and trust with faith that God is working things out for your best.
You can do this miss squeekerz....  you know the old saying, you are what you eat..?? well, you are what you think!  YOU ARE STRONG..!!!

I have been reading some of the comments for a while and today decided to join. There are so many people making comments and holding each other up! Praying for each other and for our sons and daughters is very important. When we feel down and things in our lives do not seem to be going in the right direction we can always go to God. He is truly my strength when I am weak!

Is there anyone from the same ship/div as my son?

Comment by diannep on May 25, 2011 at 9:52pm

Thanks for sharing that, Joy...it always helps to hear from someone who is on the 'other side of this" and sees the advantages of it.

Hang in there, Squeekerz.  Love conquers all....and testing of it can make it that much stronger!
