KC's Mom......I was just looking back at all the posts and I don't know how I missed your message on 5/23 about your son being the mailman!  Perhaps there is more that one???  I mentioned in my last letter to Kori that I've communicated with "KC's Mom" so perhaps she will tell let him know, too!  I know they all know each other......Kori says that they are all her "family" and it hurts her to see someone not do well or get punished.......but she has vowed not to cry.  I'm sure that carries it's own punishment!

pianomom1:  (& diannep) - thanks on marlinspike.  I was making it two words and that's wrong!  One day at a time, huh?

Ah, ok.  That's good.  We just get worried when he writes us saying, "Having medical problems" but doesn't tell us what they are!!!  His mom and I want to beat him up! lol

Sqeekerz, I agree with Dianne and wouldn't worry.  It could possibly be that he had some teeth extracted too.  They are put on light duty or in "siq" when they have that done, too.  My son had some teeth extracted during BC and it was a few weeks after he arrived there.  He did miss a phone call home during that time.

Angel:  They usually allow them to keep small bibles, etc.  If these is small, most likely she can keep it.  But...you may want to write her first and make sure she wants you to send it.

Squeekerz:  Many different illnesses/injuries can hold them back...just depends on the severity of them and how much training they miss.  They try and "work with" the SRs when they are ill to keep them in their training groups.  But if someone is really sick or injured, they may be asmoed (setback) until they are well and then put with another division in another PIR group.  If they are asmoed, they will call you (supervised call).  I wouldn't worry...most of them who have these issues are NOT asmoed.

I received a letter today! w00t!!!    I'm wondering, what kind of medical problems will hold you back?  My SR said he was having medical problems and that's why he didn't get a phone call.  I'm just wondering if they're serious enough to get him held back..  he didn't say what they were though.  I wish he'd be more descriptive. >.>

MamaCindy:  Pianomom is correct.  They learn their seamanship skills at Marlinspike...mooring, line handling, putting out to sea, etc.
