So I literally live 1 mile off of an army base. I see a lot of military people all the time. My son would DIE of embarrasement if he only knew how many of them I start conversation with so that I can tell them about my son. hee hee.
the tears will be flowing this 4th of July, let me just tell you!! As soon as that national anthem starts up, I'm no good.
Atlanta-Meridian round trip in one day is not fun but brought my sailor home & got a tour of his base. The best part was I brought our dog who he dearly loves & she didn't recognize him at first and barked defensively when he got too close to "her" car. When she saw it was him she went cazy & kissed him for 5 minutes. That was a cute reunion.
He has to drive back on Monday. Hope everyone has a great 4th - it seems a little more special this year.
We've missed you, Pianomom! So glad you had a good trip and were close to some of our Sailors!
KC'smom - so glad for your good news and hoping that foot stays strong for the run. Will be praying for that bone to stay strong and your healing to continue as well. : )
Squeekerz - Hope you and your fiance have a long and happy marriage. My sweetheart and I have been married for almost 34 years and it's been a wonderful journey. Look to God for His direction as you go and He'll never lead you astray. You may not always understand, but you'll always be blessed.
I still feel so "at home" in our little group. Sometimes in my new "logical" site, I just feel out of place, like they're talking about things that really don't matter or that I don't need to spend my time reading. When we were burning up our keyboards during bootcamp, no matter what was said, it always seemed relevant and seemed to matter. Sometimes they like to start a topic and many post comments. I don't feel like I've got time to read all the responses, but buried somewhere in them will be a comment or question that is helpful to my learning my way around my son's new world. Sorta frustrating, but I'm not knocking these great ladies and a few men who are a part, it is working for them and being a great support. I've just got to learn to skim faster!!! I've never been a fast reader. : )
Can you believe it's been 2 weeks since PIR?! That day we thought would never come... Bless you all.....and have a wonderful Independence Day.
pianomom- I have no idea how he is supposed to run with a healing fracture and I don't even care!! he just needs to suck it up and get it done!! hehee. I can't take this boot camp thing too much longer!! And, I need an excuse to go to Calf.
So embarrased about my spelling. Apparently it's accellerated, not excellerated!! But he needs to excell at his accelleration!!
Congratulations Squeekerz! You're gettting married! I'm so happy for you and your fiance. He's one lucky guy! Best of luck to you both as you start your new life together. It's a journey but a journey worth taking. My son is marrying the love of his life tomorrow in Groton (sub base). Wish I could be there.
KC's mom, I'm so proud of your son. He has such a good attitude and I think that is one of the reasons he's healing well, plus he has a very special mom who has supported him from Day 1. I will continue to hold him in my prayers and you too as you heal from your injury. God bless you both.
HOLY COW!!!! i leave for just a FEW days and come back to almost 300 N4M messages! have you people done NOTHING but talk to each other for the past week?!?!?!?
Squeekerz--i hope that you and your man will be able to find employment and schooling for the fall semester. take care of yourselves and let us hear from you.
KC'smom--i got goose bumps reading your post! please tell me how your are supposed to do that run with a healing foot?!?!? and by the way, don't apologize for ranting. just like many of you, i joined a couple of other groups, but i cannot leave this one. there is WAY too much drama here! just like the soaps in the afternoon! HAHAHAH!
my husband and i just got back from a few days at edisto and i WAVED AT GOOSE CREEK when we drove by, saying: "i know about some cute boys who are sailors there!"
i still have 2 more pages of posts to catch up on, but does anybody know anything about lucy1122's SR? i need to know.
O-if all of us who were stuck in chicago traffic that "fateful afternoon" could have been on a bus together, we could have started the meet and greet early! unbelievable!
our sailor texts me some, but i don't think they have a class yet--he JUST sent me his mailing address today. does that mean he has a class now? would somebody please help me make sense of what is going on in san antonio?
fa4airtran--have a wonderful time with your dear one.
so happy i have all of you for friends.
That's great that he's cleared! It's so awesome he was driven to try and heal faster! There really is a reason though, I'm sure. I am sure that the reason my fiance (soon to be husband. We plan on getting married the day after he comes home, which is in a week!!) had so many fractures was so that he could realize he wants to come home. And now? He already has a job to come home to. We might be able to rent his brother's old house. We're gonna get married. And it just seems like everything is falling into place!
-dances- I'm so excited. :)
Oh........ My....... God.!!! My boy saw the doctor Monday. His letter said that the doctor cleared him for the past phase of Physical Therapy and that he could have an "excellerated phase 4". All he had to do was run his 1.5 miles and he can transfer out.
Bad news..... technicalities. There is no such thing as an "excellerated phase 4" so he has to stay there for I think 2 weeks. There is a light at the end of the RCU tunnel and it is drawing near. Can't wait!! It truly is a miracle. How do ya go from being told "this is the worst bone to break in a foot, usual recovery time is 8-10 weeks" to 6 weeks later being completely healed!!
I've always said, bad things happen to us and we don't like it and don't know why. But we usually see it's purpose later on down the road. (excuding the death of a child).
Speaking from experience after having childhood cancer and the death of my first husband and a terrible back injury.... he will know why he suffered a fracture and was placed in RCU one day and it will all make sense.
Cancer gave me a compassion for the sick and I became a nurse
Death of my husband gave me independence and taught me how to be strong.
Back injury gave me a reminder to live each day to its fullest while we are able.
I hope he finds his reason for being there, too.
Thanks all for listening to me rant all the time.
